I was watching some Smoky Mtn Crawl Vids over on YouTube and saw a few Groms etc wit this https://mnnthbx.com/product/grom-swingarm-extension-honda-stretch/ , is there any practical benefit to it ? I can't imagine any need for that for road race style riding , we built a HD Drag bike with a longer swingarm to help keep the front end on the ground back when i was a young man ( yes was rough using stone tools, before you ask ) but other than that

i'd say it's a "style not function" item but if there really is a practical reason for it taking into account it's going on a 10-11 HP Vader / Grom etc I'd like to learn , my other Hobbies are a 2001 mustang GT and 2004 sportster so this mini bidness is all new to me.

By the way that Smoky Mtn Crawl looks like a blast ,I guess it's the Grom /Vader equivalent of Sturgis or Daytona Bike Week. I'm only 300 miles or so from where it's held i might have to ease on up there next year.

Naah, it's just a squid thing (generally cosmetic, just like they do on sportbikes), just like any other motorcycle you see on the street with an extended swingarm. It makes them handle terribly.

:thanks: Lol, yeah thats pretty much what i figured . I can't laugh too hard since my Sporty has a lot of stuff on it thats pretty much for looks but i'm trying to focus on "real" performance on this Vader build , be it power, braking, or handling /suspension and am trying to keep the cosmetic stuff to a minimum.

The longer wheelbase slows the tuning. Sportbike guys do it for looks or because they almost flipped the bike trying to launch hard from a stop.

I recall that as 金玉其外 https://www.facebook.com/Learning.Wisdom.Everyday/posts/364940366914720 (The roughly equivalent: All that glitters is not gold) from my old brain:D

I mean if you're building a drag bike for the drag strip... people do it on sports bikes... with the grom/choms (chinese clones)... don't think the everyday rider needs the stretch. Mostly cosmetic. :D

Lol , well my Vader isn't here yet and while I didn't order the "stretch" thing , my plan NOT to get caught up in buying a lot of cosmetic parts went right up in SMOKE lol, I should have known it would happen .

I guess I need to start a new thread and list what all I am putting on it but I'm trying to wait til the Vader actually gets here so I can show what it all looks like in pix.

I hope it ends up looking as good as i think it will !
