Yes, Motorcycle Oil Only {Petroleum Based, Semi-Synthetic or Synthetic}, 10w40 or 20w50 depending on the weather. Only use Semi-Synthetic or Synthetic oils after the engine is completely broken-in.
Motorcycle/ATV oils are designed to lubricate a wet clutch and the transmission,... as Automotive oils are not.

You will see others that use other kinds of oils, and there may be debate on this, but this is what I as a Dealer and a Consumer use in all of my motorcycles.

Oil ?
What oil ?
These bikes take oil ?
Darn it Kelly , you just can't do anything right ! 8O

Break in for me was 15-40W Shell . One is currently eating synthetic Bardahl now , the other is still eating Shell . I had found that the DB200A is not as refined an engine as the Viva 250 Preditor , both in Milling and in details to the bikes . Due to different motor companies and several hundred dollars . It needs a bit more smoothing out prior to me running $7 a quart oil in the DB200A .

I personally like my Worms with a little 15-40W on Sesame crackers .

Later , Cheers , Kelly5150

Kelly
That Shell & Bardahl just leave a horrible aftertaste. 8O I'm using Amsoil, tastes better and the worms & crackers Slide down easier!!!

When you say Motorcycle Oil Only 10w40 is there any certain Brand. Is'nt there 10w40 auto oil also, are these different?

Yes they are, I explained that in my prior post.

There are many brands of Motorcycle/ATV oils, in Petroleum Base, Semi-Synthetic & Full Synthetic. It depends what brand you like and what is available in your area. I don't tell anyone what brand to use, because people have the brands that they like.

In my Dealership I use Rev-Tech for Petroleum Based oil and Amsoil for Full Synthetic.
