Seriously I promise I am still alive. I am working 3 weeks straight at a time with maybe 2 days off.
Long story short, My department is supposed to have 21 guys covering 3 shifts 7 days a week. We have 9. 9 guys to repair and diagnose 32 machines, usually only 2 or 3 of us working at a time.
Then to top that all off, the workload on our production floor has basically doubled. This means more machines needing maintenance work and repair.
THEN, they are adding MORE machines to our facility, but not more people.
So, suffice it to say that my life is work, quite literally.
I guess on the upside, my shortage of income from a few months ago is definitely not a problem any more. With 20-30 hours a week of overtime and my boss throwing around extra money on top of our time and a half the tax people are sure enjoying it as much as I am. :ohno:
There is a light at the end of the tunnel though. I am temporarily switching to a different shift, working mainly weekends, which should alleviate some of the trouble for us swing shift guys, and I might actually get time off.
So, don't worry, I should hopefully be able to finish the Hawk soon. I sure as heck want to ride it some before the dang snow falls.

10-11 hours I can handle. 10-12 hour days 7 days a week for 3 weeks at a time is something else.
Hard to get anything done when you throw normal life into the mix with it.

Ok would be a relative term. Starting to hate being at work because I am there all the time lol.

My department is supposed to have 21 guys covering 3 shits 7 days a week.
That does not seem that hard for 21 guys to cover 3 shits. Even if they are big shits! Come on, get with the program Dan! Figure out how more efficiently to cover shits and your problem will be solved.
:p
Anyway don't work yourself silly. It's easy to do.......well not for me, I am a government employee.

Time-and-a-half-for-O-T? Not familiar with that concept. At least my employer isn't for salaried stiffs like me.
In my previous life, though...Been there, done that, but it was back in 1984 when I could and would.

You read it wrong. 9 guys to cover 3 shifts all 7 days. It is supposed to be 21

Time and a half up to 20 hours, double past 20. Incentive bonuses for working days off of 50 to 75 bucks for every 4 hours worked on top of OT pay. $100 for weekends.
Effectively I make around 60 an hour if you averaged out my ot with incentives.

Still not dead. Sorry for my extended absence if anybody was looking for me.
Long story short. Grandmother ended up in the hospital for a while, and on top of that my Aunt is barely keeping her head above water after my Uncle went missing a year ago so i have been trying to help her.
My back has been causing me problems again and I ended up laid up for the last couple of weeks and I may be looking at another surgery, possibly fusion this time. At least i aint completely crippled this time around.
Then there is a whole bunch of other shit going on beside that stuff, and I have just been stressed.
So, still not dead. At least not yet

Life aint fare sometimes. Glad to hear from you. I know Im not alone in saying: we really miss your expert comments. We are getting by on here but you can always get to the nugget of a problem and explain the technical stuff.
We will be praying for you and your family.

Glad to hear you're alive. Like the saying goes, When it rains it pours. Just look at it this way. It can only get better. Good luck with the back. I know what that's all about. Like you I've had back trouble at a young age. I'm 60 now and it hasn't stopped me yet. Hang in there, we need you around a little longer. Somebody around here has to answer some of the questions besides me. :lmao:
Prayers for you and yours.

Ready for another round?
Sitrep. Job is finally starting to ease up. Lots of new guys being hired, less demand for me to work overtime.
Truck - starting to show it is on its last legs, so I am in the process of picking up an AWD Volvo wagon. Truck will either get parked or sold.
Life - Been doing some physical therapy and other treatments for my back. It is starting to improve and I am becoming more mobile again.
Family is all in good health now
Just about the only thing limiting my time now is sorting out a potential move in a few months and also trying to figure out how to be a dad to my girlfriends two kids. I had a bad experience with my own Stepfather, and I am just afraid to screw it up, so I am focusing more on them. I never wanted to be a father myself, but that doesn't mean I can't be a good figure for her boy and girl. I can only be better than the abusive and neglectful POS their actual dad is.
Anyway, the bike is basically done, but it's so cold and snowy here now that I can't really ride it much. Hopefully I can get a video together to finish up the build in my own thread.

I think that puts us both in the same boat. Things are improving, but they could still be better. All of this overtime helped me dig out of the financial hole quite a bit. It was hard to resist buying lots of goodies, but thankfully my lady knows how to keep me on track without being naggy. It helps that I respect her opinion a great deal. She doesn't tell me no or try to hold me back from what I love, but just tosses in a little logic to tame my impulsive behavior lol.
By the way Jerry. Message me your address again. I want to mail off this muffler to you, but I lost it. :ohno:
If there is anything I can do to help you out Jerry, just let me know.

She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. The funny thing is, she is a total car and truck person too and has her own little restoration project going on with an old Honda N600 hatchback. She also does all her own work, and I don't mean oil changes. She can do it all. Woman after my own heart I tell ya!
Sounds like the muffler will be a little mechanical therapy. I will try to get it shipped off ASAP!

Thank you sir, it's nice to feel like a human being again. At least something close to it.
I think a His and Hers Hawk is in order.
I tried, but it's not entirely her thing. We did go look at a couple of bikes though, so I may make a rider out of her. She really liked the Honda Shadow 750 we looked at, a 2012 with 2k miles for 3400 bucks, which is honesty a better bike for her, and they are easy to find really nice used ones for really cheap since they are fairly common and considered a bit of a starter bike. I gave her a ride on my VFR1200, and that kind of power just isn't for her :hehe: .

I am going to actually try and keep this one. That has always been the challenge in my life. Unlike my past relationships though, she communicates on my level. She doesn't make a big deal out of little things, and is probably the most level headed lady I have ever met. I will admit, she has my number She can make me do anything she wants simply because she knows the best way to ask and motivate me.
I guess having screwed up enough, I know my own shortcomings as well, which helps. I also remind myself not to take her for granted every day.

Glad to see you coming back around Dan, I've been here but mostly reading incognito, Just kind a tight on the money right now and nothing really to say in the forums too much. I noticed Jerry has kept up the cause well, I'll get going again after Santa cleans me out and I get some time in at work to afford the things I want.
Sounds like you accidentally ran into a good one! Lord knows you cant find one if your looking real hard... I've tried and ended up terrorized, broke and a real bad attitude afterward. You deserve a good gal Dan.:hmm: Hell we all do!

We have had it for a while. I purposefully took things slow, and so did she. Been dating for about a year now. Now talking about going to the next step. She had her own fears and demons to overcome, such as not wanting to have men come and go in her kids lives, which I totally understand. I had my own apprehensions/fears as well. So far so good.
One day at a time, which is kind of my life motto at this point. Considering I literally had to retrain myself how to walk again at one point in my life, you think everything else would be easy.

I have kind of been doing the same thing. Not really much to say, so when I did poke my head in I usually didn't say much, just read a little. I kind of missed this little weird community lol. Now that I am finally getting back on me feet so to speak and the weight is getting lifted a bit I have more time and energy for silly things like bikes... just in time for winter
I wouldn't say it was entirely an accident. I definitely wasn't looking/trying for anything, but there was always an interest there and it just kind of happened on its own. I just got tired of chasing, because like you said... lots of pain and misery.
The fun part is the "insta-family" that comes with it. I don't even do being an adult well myself, and now I have to be responsible for small humans. I am just a big kid at heart myself :hehe:
