K&N vs Uni air filter

I’m just trying to get a feel on everyone’s choice of air filters. I’ve used K&N drop in and cold air intakes in the past. I’ve never used an Uni filter before.

If you could spare a few minutes and tell me why you chose a K&N or Uni filter. They don’t have to be an actual K&N or Uni filter, but rather that style of filter.

Probably my last post before going without internet for a while :)

K&N (also owns AEM Intakes and the "dry-flow" technology) can work just fine on vehicles without Mass Air Flow Sensors... it does let about 1.8% more "fine particle dust" past the filter, but my intakes have always passed the "white glove" test and I live off and drive on dusty dirt roads all the damn time... I usually clean and re-oil K&N filters every other year (somewhere around 30,000 miles)

UNI Foam Filters are also a great choice for almost everything that needs an air filter, they usually have around 60 PPI and can trap plenty of fine particle dust while still flowing air freely when properly 'oiled'... clean and re-oil every other year... also the Foam Filter Oil is really sticky and (usually) won't contaminate Mass Air Flow Sensors like K&N liquid oils can...

If you are using a K&N on a vehicle with a MAF sensor... don't freak out and toss the expensive filter... just buy a can of "Electrical Contact Cleaner" and clean the sensor, go for a nice drive and check the sensor again for oil contamination... clean the sensor and go for another drive if any oil is found... it usually takes a few MAF cleanings to fix an over oiled K&N filter (they sometimes come from the factory over oiled)
