Does anyone know if the "universal" digital speedometer clusters will work on the Hawk:

Yes it will work if your good at wiring. You'll have to make a mount for it.

So, is there one that's not $100 and will work if I'm NOT good at wiring?

I don't think so...
The digital cluster Matt sells is specificly wired for either the Hawk or TT250 with the correct length wires, proper connectors & matching colors. That alone makes it worth it!
Any 'universal' cluster will need heavy modifications to work for your specific bike and the connectors won't be the same. You'll need to cut, splice & lengthen mismatching colors. I'm not sure if it's even possible to make the supplied sensor work with a Hawk, you'd likely have to fabricate something. Then you still need to either buy connectors, probably well over $20 to wire it in (www.digi-key.com or www.molex.com) or hardwire everything. If wiring isn't your thing then just get Matt's digital cluster and avoid the headaches. Matt cluster fits perfectly with the existing hardware and looks good and has a proper speed sensor for the Hawk.

You can buy one from a member here named mjstef just pm him but you will have to get on a list as he's out of stock. It isn't to hard to install a universal if you have some wiring skills. You can unplug wires from there connectors and rearrange to fit the new speedo but you would have to fab a mount to hold the speedo and another to hold the speed sensor.
