I had a busy morning. Started at the crack of dawn to beat the heat. I made the base plate out of 3/32" aluminum plate I had laying around and painted flat black to match the bike. Drilled a few holes and bolted it up.

Next was installing the o-ring chain. The old one had a couple of damaged links from when I threw the chain a few weeks back.

Then I finished up the morning pulling the forks off to change the oil and installed 1" pre-load spacer. I put 230ml of Dex/Merc ATF. It's amazing how nasty the oil got after 6 months. It feels so much firmer.

My mission for the afternoon is to install LED lights for brake and turn signal on the trunk as soon as USPS drops them off. I'll post pictures of the install later.

Got the wiring done on the bike. I used a 4 wire trailer plug so the trunk will still be removable . Now I'm just waiting on USPS for the LED's.

Wow, I thought I did a good job of installing the trunk. You killed it! Great job of mounting and lighting. Are you going to manufacturer the plate for sale?

Thanks guys for the compliment. No I'm not going to make plates to sell. It's just a piece of aluminum plate 6"×8"x3/32" thick.

I'm planning to light my trunk like that too. I have light strips divided in the center so I can have signals. I also went three strips high instead of two. I'm going to use hot glue to help hold them in position.

I did the same thing. I hot glued all the wires and connectors in place before I put the lens back on. I have room to add a third row on top. I may just do that.
