Out for a ride, in with a limp!

Well I a few hours ago I had the pleasure of riding back to the house with a flat front tire, 20mph with a leg out just in case. fortunately I was only 3 1/2 to 4 miles from the house when the tire went down.

I got to a station and filled it back up but it only held for a few minutes, the tire never fully collapsed so I think I'll be ok. It felt like I was surfing on a long dirt road instead of riding...lots of fun.

And don't forget a patch kit and air pump. This is the pump I have. It's small and fits in the burrito tube.

a tube and tire spoons on the way from Amazon Prime!Before you put the hopefully heavy duty tube in, check the spoke ends and nipple ends for roughness. File them smooth, if neccessary. Also make sure the rubber band that protects the tube is ok...ARH :tup:

while you are changing the tube to a HEAVY DUTY TUBE... replace the band that protects your tube from the inside of your spokes.... they are cheap and worth to change... before going back on with your new tire... grease your axle with never seize.. ( anti-seize )



how fast were you going when the front tire decided to give out?? I was going into a turn when mine gave out.... not fun...

@Cravin/all ... I have the same Bashan Storm. I haven’t, thankfully, had a blow out but am worried about it of course. Can you give some links to good tubes?

Front Tire: 90/90/19
Rear tire: 110/90/17

Also make sure the rubber band that protects the tube is ok...ARH :tup:I forgot to add that when installing the new tube put just enough air in it to fill it out and make it look normal. Then put baby powder all over the tube. The baby powder "helps the tube find itself" inside the tire. Leave the valve stem in the tube during tube installation. Once it is installed with the tire re-mounted, air it up to somewhere around 40 lbs. Then either remove the valve stem if you are brave, or bleed the air out before removing the valve stem. The second method, while slower, reduces those infamous "MOTHER FLETCHER" moments when very small parts go flying off to never be seen again. I like to leave the tire with no air in it for at least 10 minutes, so as to give plenty of time for the tube to do any creeping and adjusting inside the tire. Then air it up, and ride...ARH :yay:
