hello, I bought a eBay Chinese digital speedometer for my Hawk 250, I thought since it was Chinese as well as the bike all I would have to do is plug-in the plug that fit it, and mount the digital speedometer sensor and magnet and it would work? It didn't work. It didn't even light up. So now I have to figure out whether I have a faulty speedometer out of the box or whether the wiring is correct. Problem is the speedometer didn't come with a wiring diagram and I don't know What colors are what on the hawk. Not even the manual will tell you. the manual for the hawk 250 has a wire diagram but it doesn't tell you the colors. the key was turned on, I thought that the one wire that was all by itself might be a ground but I tried touching that wire two different metal parts of the chassis , but it still didn't come on. Can someone help me with this?. Does someone have the color designations for the hawk 250? Thank you. also my brake light is staying on all the time

Well I don't own a Hawk but I do have A TT250. Considering the wires for Matt's digital cluster (was originally intended for the Hawk) match perfectly color for color to my TT250 I think it's safe to assume the wire colors of both bikes are identical. I figured out what all the wires were when I installed my cluster because it had a wiring issue. As soon as I find where I wrote it all down I'll post it.

Not the same as mine but try this.
Lt blue-right turn
Blue-hi beam
Brown/white-running lights
Orange-left turn
Yellow/black-tach
Green-ground
Blue/white-fuel gauge
Red-battery
Black-ignition switch

Six pin plug
Green/red-neutral
Pink-1st
Blue/red-2nd
Green/black-3rd
Yellow/red-4th
Yellow/white-5th

I’d bench test the unit to double check the wiring before installing it. If you don’t have access to a 0-15 volt bench power supply, the bikes’ battery will work in a pinch.

That's the same cluster my honorary son installed on his F3. IIRC, the eBay seller posted the wiring chart on the eBay page. I don't have a link, or I'd share it. Since his Honda didn't have the same connector, we bought another connector on eBay (for a Kubota, I think), made a cross reference chart to correct the colours and he soldered it together.

hello folks, thank you so much for your help but I still need help. what a freaking nightmare!

okay here's the breakdown:

I have 10 wires coming from the speedometer, 12 including the speed sensor which is obvious.

White
Orange
yellow/ white
Black/Blue
Black
Black/Red
Red
Green/White
Black
Blue/Yellow (Has bullet connector on it)

Notes: there is no light blue coming from the speedometer.
there is no solid dark blue coming from the speedometer.
there is no blue / white coming from the speedometer.
there is no pink coming from the speedometer.
there is no blue / red coming from the speedometer.
There is no green / Black coming from the speedometer
there is no blue / red coming from the speedometer
there is no yellow / red. coming from the speedometer.
there is no yellow / Black coming from the speedometer

there is a red on the hawk but not on the pin connector that I cut. it follows through another connector along with the green and the black should I tie the red to the other two?

Should I hook the yellow / white on the speedometer to the brown / White on the hawk? There is a yellow / white on the hawk.

I was able to hook up the orange with the orange, the black with the black and the green with the green but that's the only combinations that I could do until I find out more information.

I've included a picture of the spaghetti. sorry for the trouble, any advice would help. Thank you.

first picture is from the speedometer, second picture is of the hawk.

MC: I apologize for not purchasing your digital cluster, if I can't figure this out I will have to take a loss because I got glue all over my speedometer to mount it and I'll purchase yours. Thank you.

Did the cluster come with a wiring diagram? That would help.

no it didn't, I wish it would have, I contacted the Chinese seller but they don't know what the hell I'm saying. They're really bad at interpreting English.

Look through the other ebay seller that have that same speedometer. One of them may have it in there ad.

Just because a few colors match doesn't mean their correct. If I was you I'd start with just hooking up the power and ground. Once you figured that out and it turns on fine then you can connect one wire at a time. At least then if it's wrong you will know which wire it is.

Here's some more information which may be helpful:

Orange from the speedometer to Orange on the Hawk. which is left turn signal.
Green to Green which is ground
light blue to light blue is right turn signal - ( the light blue on the speedometer almost looks White)
there is no dark blue coming from the speedometer
yellow and white connect to Yellow on the hawk for the fuel gauge.
Black from the speedometer to Brown on the hawk for the ignition power switch and back light on the speedometer.
you have to tap in the red from the speedometer into the other 4 pin plug to hold the memory and clock power.

this particular speedometer does not have a neutral light. other speedometers that look just like it do have a neutral light. I took my neutral light off the old speedometer and attached it to the side of the new speedometer. the wires for it are red and black to red and black and black to Black. ( these wires are not on the speedometer, only on the hawk)
There is no gear indicator wires for this speedometer.
The blue and white wire on the hawk for the tachometer does not come up to the headlight. I tapped in a wire into the plug that's located right next to the battery, the blue and white wire. I ran it up to the headlight area and tapped it into the black and red wire from the speedometer, now the tachometer works.
I'm not sure if the speed sensor is mounted in a good area yet I don't know if it's accurate yet. I'll let you know later.

This is still a better speedo than stock even without the gear indicator. I'm sure it can be calibrated. Did it come with any instruction at all?

I don't recall it coming with any instructions at all.
