After suffering major setback on my Vader build due to being Hurricane Michael'd here in Florida, some unseasonably cold weather has now rolled in
on us so I'm thinking it's time to clear some space in the shed and start trying to get back on my build ,especially since it's getting dark so early now.
So, I'll be starting a thread soon to cover the install of all the new parts i still have that need to go on ,and I invite any interested to post any work you are doing be it just touching up paint , adding new mirrors or levers, etc all the way up to full builds and / or Zs190 swaps ,so we can all trade ideas
and see what everyone else is doing with their Grom clone.

ZS190 will go in if I ever get time to work on it.
In my build thread I have tons of stuff to install that are just sitting in the garage. :|
I'd also like to get one of the Grom Superlite Rear Sprockets and the Gromfatherz speed spacers.
Also an aluminum swingarm and go on a diet.
I think that'll be good. Easiest way to go faster... lose weight/rotating mass and add more power. Doubt I'll be hitting a point where aerodynamics will be a major factor. lol.

I'll try to post an update tomorrow , i took pictures today but now my PC won't recognize my tablet for some reason so i can't download the pic's to my PC to upload them to here .
But, i found an anodized aluminum gas cap that looks good and does NOT use a key that will direct fit on a Vader ,the lock mechanism on my Vader has always been finicky and several times I've almost broke the key off in it , so I was looking for a work around for that. I'm really not living in fear of someone siphoning out my 1 gallon of gas ,or putting anything in the tank that shouldn't be there so those were not concerns of mine .The gascap spins out ,then back in and it doesnt leak during wheelies or stoppies and it looks sweet in my opinion. I'll try to get pic up tomorrow as well as a link to where i got it from- it was cheap too like 25 or 30 bucks ,unlike some I saw that were near a hundred bucks .

Yes. Please. I've been looking for something like that. I saw that the CBR250? 300? will fit... but nothing definitive. Then I found the Driven ones... but SUPER expensive.

Seriously dudes, every time i mentioned wanting a non keyed gascap, I'd get flooded with comments like " They gonna steal ur gas bruh!!" , or "They gonna put sugar in yer tank bruh!!".
I mean i get the point but if you so bad off you need the one gallon of gas in my Vader bad enough to siphon it out ,you prolly need it worse than i do ,and i try not to leave my bike unattended in places where crack junkies is siphoning gas out of vehicles.....a gallon at a time lmao.

ZS190 will go in if I ever get time to work on it.
I've got a 190 + genuine microsquirt ECU (not the one from aliexpress) and supporting hardware and sensors from aliexpress eagerly awaiting installation.
Not having any form of heat in my workspace really sucks, I'm going to either have to bite the bullet and buy a propane/kerosene portable heater, bring the bike into my bedroom, or wait for weather that doesn't turn my nipples into glass cutters.

oh dang... do you have a link to the kit you bought on aliexpress?
I'd love to go FI... How good is the autotune with the ecu?

Here's the link (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/microsquirt-II-based-EFI-motorcycle-Motorbike-Motocross-ATV-scooter-small-engine-Electronic-Fuel-Injection-kit/32786077851.html) to what I bought on Aliexpress.
I have read a few threads saying they bought this kit, or at least a kit that had a "kit 4" option. I think it was the stickied efi conversion thread on this section of the forum.
I have only just ordered all of what I expect I will need for the conversion, so I am waiting for everything to arrive (engine, supporting hardware, ECU (https://www.diyautotune.com/product/microsquirt-engine-management-system-w-30-wiring-harness/), ebay exhaust (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?campid=5337605188&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F711-53200-19255-0%2F1%3Fcampid%3D5337605188%26amp%3Btoolid%3D10001 %26amp%3Bmpre%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com% 252Frover%252F1%252F711-53200-19255-0%252F1%253Fcampid%253D5337605188%2526amp%253Btool id%253D10001%2526amp%253Bmpre%253Dhttps%25253A%252 52F%25252Fwww.ebay.com%25252Fitm%25252F38152452856 7), wideband o2 sensor (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076BCB4LP/), and other (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Z7HJRG/) small things (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000COCPZM/)) so I cannot say anything about the autotuning the software has.
The microsquirt is supposed to arrive today, so hopefully I can play with that for a little while. The exhaust and amazon stuff should come next week. The Aliexpress order... only an educated guess at it arriving in 2-4 weeks. It seems like they do not track the shipment while it is in China or on the boat; they gave the seller a week to package and ship the item and then about 5-8 days for delivery. I'm still in the waiting-for-it-to-be-shipped stage.

I am sure I Speak for several people here when I say, please please please post a thread on your experiences with this. Many people here would love to find a good EFI option that actually works and doesn't cost as much as their bike lol.

Glavey, the kit you linked to has a fuel pump with a 'return to fuel tank' outlet. I know you haven't received it yet but have you thought about how you are going to hook this up?
glavey

A few options come to mind... One is to have the return line connect, through a tee, to a point between the fuel tank outlet and the fuel pump, sending the unused fuel either back through the pump or back into the tank... though now that I think about it, it seems like that could easily cause some fuel heating problems.
Another idea is to use the vapor line that already exists on the top of the fuel tank. I don't know if it would be bad or dangerous to have fuel returned to the tank above the fuel level and just pouring through the air in the tank. I would of course drill a small hole in the gas cap for venting.
Yet another option that I have done before, kinda, is to drill a new hole in the tank and use a... uh... what do you call it... something like this (https://www.amazon.com/Turbo-drain-return-adapter-fitting/dp/B00FB33POO/) but correctly sized and rated for fuel. I've used something (http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/Glaveyy/DSCN0783_zps5c21ea48.jpg) very similar (https://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/y472/Glaveyy/DSCN0805_zpsf23578ad.jpg) when I added an oil return line to the valve cover of a scooter; drill a hole, sandwich the valve cover (or fuel tank) between the nut and bolt, add your sealant of choice, and tighten.
I'll probably go for the drill a hole and make a return port option.
I am planning on, for the final version of the EFI conversion, running everything from the genuine microsquirt, but I may start with the less-than-genuine ECU that comes from china so other people will know if it is worth using.
Honestly, the only reason I am using microsquirt over the ECU and software that came from the china seller or the ecotrons efi kit is the tuning and datalogging software. If either the china seller or ecotrons had software that was as... polished, feature-rich, and powerful, I would have chosen them.
I don't really know when I will start the project in earnest; the rise and fall of the mercury in the thermometer is more of an indicator than anything. Maybe around March or April.
So much for a winter project, eh?

Just as an update to this , in order to make the keyless gascap fit I had to buy a Gen2
Grom gas tank off Ebay ,block off half the holes I didn't need that were on it and then adapt the Vader fuel level sending unit to it and so on and so forth.
So, to make a very long story short it now works but turned into such a costly and aggravating pain in the backside project I do NOT recommend it .
I could have built an adapter ring and JB Weld "Steel Stick" ed it in place and maybe made it easier (and less expensive) but I didn't . I did get it ultimately all working and I like it but I could have done much more meaningful mods for the money, time, and aggravation it ended up costing to change gas caps from key style to keyless.,so until someone stumbles across a more direct swap option i suggest staying away from this .
