Grom clone ??

Hello everyone so I’ve owned several China bikes in the past this past year I’ve made the plung after several years of working on old bikes I have a 2017 Suzuki Hayabusa in the garage after this summer my mother has really talked a lot about riding but she has never road a motorcycle before so my first thought was the Grom she is rather short an doesn’t need the power to get her self in trouble an enjoy learning iv been looking for a clone to see If this is something she really wants to do an not spend a lot of money I’m in southern wv have not seen any dealers ne’er me are there any online company’s you can recommend?

There are several clones available. It seems that the Vader and its siblings from the Boom (Baodiao) company (I think they have 2 or 3 different GLVs, or Grom Like Vehicles--I made that term up :) ), as well as the Taotao Hellcat, and there are a couple offerings from Ice Bear should do the trick as far as low cost bikes go. https://www.venommotorsportsusa.com/ seem to have a really good reputation as far as the Vader series of bikes go. They label them as 'Venom' branded bikes, but they are really Boom/Baodiao (Baodiao is what is on the Mfg. Certificate of Origin). There are several places that sell the Hellcat, but I suggest to start with my friend at Excalibur Motorsports, Alan Tang 909-591-8800. Like the large online retailers https://www.superiorpowersports.com/ www.powersportsmax.com or , Alan is near Taotao's So. California warehouse, but unlike them, Alan has a few contacts at Taotao, and can get warranty issues sorted out should they arise. Alan is the guy who answers the phone, and actually does answer, unlike many of these retailers. Excalibur's mainline is the US distributor for TGB Scooters from Taiwan, but they have continued to deal with Chinese products mainly as wholesalers, but he can sell retail to customers outside of California, such as Taotao bikes. Ice Bear--not sure who sells their products.

If you want to spend an extra few hundred dollars for a higher quality bike, you can look into the Lifan KP Mini 150 which arguably out Groms the Grom. It has 5 gears, a vertical 150cc and 12 horsepower. Venom sells those if you look on their site, and Alan also deals in Lifan so couldn't hurt to ask him about the KP Mini if you are calling about the Hellcat.

For the Icebear, dealerships are everywhere. If you search Icebear Fuerza, you'll find one. The one I ordered from was Cajunmaddog. The guy owns a scooter shop and is awesome to deal with. Answered several questions for me and helped me deal with getting my bike registered.

Taking the issue further... If you're mom is not going to modify the motorcyle and do engine swaps and so forth...

I'd recommend the Lifan KP mini (culcune mentioned this) as well as the Kymco Spade. Also can look into the SSR Razkull.

You also may not be that bad off with getting a used Honda Grom or Kawasaki Z125. Most in my area are a year old and people sell them because they don't ride them much or because they want something bigger.
