I had a failure today, luckily at low speed before I left my neighborhood. I took a look and the retaining ring was completely missing from the sprocket. It was the stock ring and now I need to look for a new one. Any suggestions?

It will be a 2 1/4" x 0.078" external retainer snap ring. Somebody like Grainger will carry them.

Jerry beat me to it, but I can do my usual thing and go all detailed.

It is called an External Snap Ring. "
Diameter: 2 1/4"
Thickness: .078"

Grainger or Fastenal should both carry them.

At least your link works. I posted one, but when I tried to use it I got routed to a generic menu so I removed it. Mine was to a stainless steel version, but at $18 each they are relatively a lot more expensive.

Edit: This one https://www.fastenal.com/products/details/4115662

The problem is, they only list them as packs of 50. So spending $900 might not be a smart investment lol

Thank you very much. I picked a five pack from Grangers for about 5 bucks. Hopefully my pliers will be large enough to put one over the axle.:thanks:
