Hello all, some of you might remember I was unsure where to order from.
Q9, Killer, TXPS or ?
Anyway decided to order right from the devil TXPS LOL, they had the lowest price. Ordered Jan 2 and received today in Connecticut, Jan 9 not bad.
All good so far. Going to send out for MCO in the morning.
Started to tear it down, Carb cracked open and jets drilled etc. Fork oil changed, some nuts/bolts threadlocked. A lot more to do, even going to do some body mods.
Some pics for now. Also noticed the swing arm has a grease fitting. Don't know if older Magicians have it.
Will update as I go along.
Thanks for now.

Cool. I like the look of the Magicians but I am too tall to fit comfortably on one. Let us know how the process goes and how it rides and holds up to everyday use.

the factory grease fitting is interesting. I am not sure if that is a new thing or not, but I have never seen it mentioned before. It is possible that they ordered some improvements to the bike on the newest batch. Hopefully that translates to better welds on the frame too.
My first green Magician just had the hole and my red Magician did have with the grease cert.

Follwing your assembly. I have a black magician arriving some day soon. I ordered from q9. Yeah I paid a little more but every one talking bad about them worried me and I read the positive words about q9. I ordered on 1-8-19 and today 1-10-19 it says it's has arrived at the destination terminal. I also paid extra for shipping insurance and lift gate delivery as I most likely wont be home when they deliver it so hopefully they can just lower and shove it off the lift gate in my driveway. Where do I find the info on drilling the jets out? I already have a micro drill bit set from when I was making orifices for my home made propane BBQ grill build.

It's nice to see somebody finally opted for one of the Magician specific exhausts on the market. The only exhausts I have seen were basically the same Ebay CRF exhaust us Hawk guys use, and it just looks weird on the Magician.
That front fairing is interesting. Where did you get it at?

I like the exhaust also, kind of Road Racer. Fairing is for a Yamaha Tricker, got that from Japan. I should be done in two three weeks.
But will post pics as I go along, after all we all like photos.;)

What are your plans for the Magician? ...commuter, trail riding or some of both?
What about registration here in lovely CT... ? I thought I'd reg in VT to get my Pitster Pro on the road, then transfer to CT some time in the future. I hit a snag going through VT, so now I'm prepping the bike for the CT DMV inspection and hopefully all will go well there.

I think the only issue you would have with running it would be that it might come up a little bit on the short side, so a small extension might be needed.
As a point of reference, here is a Magician with the CRF Ebay exhaust.

Since that exhaust works on a magician, then there is nothing to suggest it wouldn't work the other direction. Just might need a couple of tweaks.
Speaking of Magician exhausts. This is probably the silliest one I have found thus far. Who wants to try it? lol

Yes a lot of stuff out there for the Magician.
I have different side panels and also a larger tank, no side panels are used with the larger tank.
Not going with these options for now, sticking with the stock suff for now plus the fairing. Oh, I painted the plastics a different color will post pics Saturday when I get them out of the spray booth.
I just placed the parts against the bike so might look a little off.

I looked at the possibility to sell Magician parts n upgrade but the bike sold in the USA is a bit different to the bike sold in China and was am unsure what fits or not etc.
Gets complex without a sample bike and I don't like mistakes lol
But yes soooo many bits and bobs for the Magician are possible, just the question is: does it fit the USA sold bike

Long term lurker finally created an account since you're the first person doing some asthetic mods that actually will make the bike look more like a Tricker. The only thing holding me back is I'm terrified it'll be too small. I'm also 5'11, could you please upload a picture or two on the bike and next to it. Likely the same way most people have done it, a little acetone on a rag. The name is literally just painted on to the vinyl, so it comes off fairly easy. Just make sure to rinse off the area really well after to make sure you don't damage the vinyl.

Frank,
Thanks for posting. You have set a good example of what I think these bikes are meant for. They make a good base inexpensive bike that you can customize to exactly how you want it and not break the bank. I think this part is more fun than the riding. :D

Jerry 100% on that.
When I mentioned to my wife I was getting back into a bike and mentioned I was going for a CB, she said " why don't you just get a Honda or Harley". But what fun is that? Right, been there and done that. I like to tinker and mod stuff.
Anyway couple of pics, only had white exhaust wrap on hand. Also made a inner fender shield out of some plastic sheeting to protect the air filter and found a R/C air filter for the breather. I rerouted and moved some electrical stuff.
Adjusted the valves today, from the factory there was no clearance, wow..
Found some mirrors and grips from a past project I never used and will post Saturday, might even have it all together by then.
Sorry for the boring photos lol.

Great job on the colors. A couple of questions; did you paint the tank, and if so, what did you use? Is the tank plastic? And finally, what other color did you use? It looks like some sort of bronze. Again, the whole bike looks great. Too bad the motor isn't based on a Yamaha. You could have replaced the side covers to complete the look.

OK, first oil change done.
Did a couple of short heat cycles and then rode it for about a mile and drained stock oil. Factory had too much in there and we all know the quality of it. I put in a little over a quart.
Just want to say for about $1600.00 ($1214.00 for bike) with mods and a little work / imagination these bikes are great. I'm sure the same goes for the Hawk.
I have a large parking lot here at work and gave it a good semi hard run 1-4 even got it into 5th for a short time.
Bike pulls really strong and this exhaust sounds incredible.. Feels like it will wheelie 1st or 2nd with no problem. Stock Carb with my set up so far is perfect, and is very responsive with throttle input, revs up nice.
I'm sure this set up will change once broken in and weather warms up, maybe.
Again, bike pulls strong and idles and runs great.
Some tech info below;
Have 20wt oil in the forks and they feel great.
My speedometer is about 3 mph off, not bad. May do a dig tach/speedo in the future.
Stock Magician Carburetor
I'm at about 150 ft above from sea level
Temp today 45 degrees w 50% humidity
Exhaust and foam air pod filter mod
Drilled pilot jet a fraction of a hair, I think if I left it alone it would be OK
2 turns out on the fuel screw below
Main jet I drilled with 1.2 drill bit
Have the idle when warmed at 1400 rpm
Engine temp got up to 235 degrees with semi hard pulls 1-4 running for about 15 minutes
Engine temp was about 220 when going easier
Temp was with digital temp gun at the spark plug base area and after I came to a stop and idled for about 30 seconds
(edit) 4 thin washers on the needle.
Finally got a outdoor photo.

Sadly, the only Chinese bike I have now is from the 'rebel' island of Taiwan, and it is a scooter, a TGB. Not to mention I live in California, so "no Hawk for me!"
To be honest, the Hawk name is corny as well, but it is much more mainstream; but I doubt anyone with a Hawk could repaint it and make such a wonderful rendition of a mainstream bike like you did with your bike's transformation into a 'Yamaha'.

Since it is on the same EPA certificate as the Hawk, if Hawks are already registered there, you should have no problem since they (RPS or Hensim or Haosen) would in your state's motor vehicle computer system. Hopefully someone with a Magician in MO chimes in, but even someone with a Hawk will be representative.
