Found a stainless steel exhaust system on Amazon and the price is right, but looking at the pics there's a cylinder/bulge on the header pipe. Is that a catalytic converter? If not can anyone tell me what it does? If it is a cat that would defeat the purpose of buying a new exhaust.

My bad, I guess it says titanium.

Titanium is the color. A full exhaust made of Ti would probably run a couple grand or more in price.

It's the exact pipe I have on my Storm. The cat buldge is just for show, definitely a free flow pipe and very lightweight compared to the stock system.

If you end up needing to mod the 2 flange holes larger which most do it seems and you don't have the specialty drill bits for stainless then you can use the cone shaped bits they make for Dremel, drills and screw guns etc. They are made of some kind of stone material, like a wet stone for sharpening knives and zip right through steel.

The step drill bits from Harbor Freight work well also.

I have the tt250 with that exact exaust its decent but the main problem is the packing fiber glass burns out after 3000 miles it is re pack able but i would spend the money on a pro circuit 230 crf exhaust

Just bought the same pipe from the same listing and just installed it this weekend. It will require you to mod the air box for clearance.

The Pro Circuit is definitely a much better fit and finish, and from what I have seen, requires no modifications to anything for clearance.

That said. $15 for some ceramic wool packing and a couple of bucks worth of pop rivets and problem solved.

I plan on going with the pod filter so airbox clearance shouldn't be an issue. Just gotta figure out if it needs removed altogether because it does provide debris and water protection from the rear tire.

I think the bulge in the pipe is meant to emulate a Power Bomb, like FMF makes. The jury is still out on whether it does anything on these motors.

The trash can mod is one alternative.

The other is to do what I did and simply hack up the airbox on the front and right side. It allows room for the air filter, keeps the rear inner fender functionality, and also provides a handy place to mount stuff out of sight like relays etc.

I'm trying to decide weather to do the trash can mod or the way you did yours. I think you way would protect the filter a little more from the elements.

Well, you could always hack up the stock box, see if you like it, and if not do the trash can mod. Since you already have the air box, nothing to lose, unless you want the stock airbox for resale purposes. I cut mine up because even if I wanted to sell it, I don't think the buyer would care lol.

instead of fooling with the air box just take a small hammer and put a divot in the pipe. as long as you have a 1/4" clearance it wont melt it. if you use header wrap you still need the 1/4".

He is running a pod filter, so the air box is superfluous at this point.

I have the "titanium ehaust" just think the pro cirucit or the yoshi exhaust will give better sound and little to nothing but somthing power gains still decideing between the two prolly pro circuit exhaust

If you choose to clearance the pipe, I find it to be helpful to lay another piece of pipe on it and hit that. You'll end up with a decent radius with no hammer marks. It allows you to shape the pipe, rather than beat it into submission. You can always lay your existing pipe on a sandbag if you have one, or even the front lawn for a bit of cushion.

Rally Raid recommends a hammer or rock on fitting their high dollar Scorpion exhaust for the Honda’s lol. Not kidding lol

Maybe. Given the general quality of the air box and intake tube, and issues with exhausts melting them, far more people tend to ditch the air box for a pod filter anymore.

Try sending it back as defective and get another one the quality control on the bend angles is terrible for the ebay/amazon kit i got one that required no mods to install besides the flange so i got lucky but after haveing it for 3000miles ive since had to re pack it once and am unsatisfied with the sound of it bit too loud honestly and i packed it very tight. Bet the yoshi exhaust would be the quietest with the larger heavier exhaust it weighs 6 lbs more than the fmf pro circuit and ebay/amazon kit
