I have my current motorcycle up for sale and hope will be able to get a hawk when/ if sell it. I've read just about everything there is to know about it. I was just watching a motocheez video about changing the fork oil and he mentioned about the shrader valve in some bikes. Has anyone done this to a hawk by drilling and tapping nut at top. Also is there still an issue with the rear sprockets on these. I already have a list of neccesitys and some goodies. For the most part I know what I'm getting into and I have had a china bike before.

As for the shrader valve, it’s been done I’ve seen pictures but can’t remember who did it. But you can probably get by just fine with thicker fork oil and making some spacers to go in them (megadan has great info on that). And as far as the sprocket, straight out of the crate, my stock sprocket did have some wiggle to it. After installing the JT sprocket, and torquing down the nuts, the sprocket was absolutely solid.

My sprocket also had just a bit of wiggle also but after I purchased the JT sprocket and the Honda OEM bolts it is solid as a rock. As a matter of fact, i had to take a rubber mallet and tap the sprocket into the hub. The retaining ring fits right up next to the sprocket too. I have full confidence in it now although I am not one to ride wheelies on a motorcycle.

I also put 15 weight fork oil in the forks and added an additional 8 mm of washers in each fork for the preload. It seems to work about as well as can be expected for what it is. It is still not going to be high performance by any means but is fine for road and light trail use.

I already have an idea how I'm going to set bike up to suit me plus plan on regearing with 17/45 sprockets just didnt know if they fixed it yet.
