I have a mid morning flight to Boston tomorrow. Another brush fire with another customer who won’t RTFM. Booked Tuesday through Friday morning for it. Got a call and was told to be in Guadalajara Thursday afternoon and fly back to Chicago late Friday.
Prior to last Thursday afternoon, I had nothing planned for this week other than driving four hours to Indiana and four hours back for a twenty minute job. It’s also the one thing that won’t get done this week.:ohno:

Hey, Guadalajara is pretty nice. The trip here was pure hell, though. Five AM flight from Boston to Dallas that at least had a first class upgrade. Three hour delay on the flight from Dallas to Guadalajara, though. That sucked. A lot. The rib eye steak and alcohol at dinner at least made up for it.

That flight to Guadalajara...According to the pilot, someone spilled something thing nasty on the carpeting on the inbound flight from Jackson Hole. He had that cleaned, which I appreciated, but was the first delay. Then it was found that the crappers wouldn’t flush, that took an hour to correct. Throw in some paperwork screwups, and my 11:30 flight left at 2:30. Somewhere over Laredo, the pilot comes over the PA to tell us that there is a fire at the airport in Guadalajara and that the airport is closed. We may be going to Mexico City instead. Pilot comes back on about thirty minutes later to tell us it was a grass fire in Guadalajara that was now under control and the airport was about to reopen.
As we are coming in to land, smoke from the grass fire obscured the runway and ATC insisted that we take another shot at it. I didn’t know an A319 could accelerate and climb that quickly.
Second time’s a charm. Getting through immigration is a breeze, though customs took awhile. Finally hook up with our rep, get checked into the hotel and go out for great two hour dinner.
Told you that to tell you this. Got up yesterday morning and found an email from American apologizing for all of went wrong with Thursday’s flight and they deposited 5000 miles in my account, which is about the same as flying Chicago to LA and back. I’ll take it.
