Getting really tired of it already and I'm in Nor Cal. Can't even imagine you guys back east.

My motorcycle tent got crushed last week, my carpool partner landed her Jeep in a pasture leaving my house thanks to it raining ice pellets (aka frozen BB's), and our power has been out countless times this season, last week for three days....which also means no water (well). Thankfully, our office has a shower.

So....what does a couple guys do when you're faced with this dilemma?
Have the wives build an outdoor fire and make snowmen, while we hunkered at the fire and drank whiskey. Seemed like the right idea.

Wow, you got some snow. So I assume you got your generator all wired in and working.

Not yet. We still have the fat cord through the window. It runs the fridge, a couple lamps and the TV/stereo. Between that and the wood stove, we're fine other than water.
This summer i'll be wiring it into the house to run everything but the electric water heater. Cold water is better than no water!

It can be; it depends a great deal on the whisky.

We don't get much winter weather here. This past December we got 8 inches, mostly snow turned to ice. Today we are getting sleet and freezing rain and that's expected to be off and on the rest of the week. So far, the temps are staying just above the freezing point but ice is forming above ground around the 15 to 20 feet area and up. Kind of weird.

Mrs. C and I are officially sick of winter.
O’hare stats for the year are 41”. Normal is 14”. We are farther northwest and usually get more snow. That said, I go by tanks of gas through the snow blower, not inches. I have used 2.25 tanks of fuel this year and normally only use 1.5.

Supposed to get more snow and freezing rain tonight.:grr:

We just got 2ft of snow over the last few days, we are getting another 8 inches tonight and a predicted 11-14 inches more on Friday. This doesn't include the previous snow storm from 3 weeks ago. My work parking lot has a wall of snow that is over 13ft high, about 300ft long created by our snow removal front end loader (proper equipment lol) and we had to send some off in dump trucks to make room.

Yet, somehow, people still ask me why I don't ride in the winter here. HA!

This is why I moved to the south. Greenville, SC averages 3 inches of snow per year and typical temps range from 34 to 89. The first year here it snowed a few inches. I grab a snow shovel and start clearing the driveway. Neighbor is watching me with a smile. A hour later the sun comes out and melts all the snow. Old habits die hard.

I'm in the northwest corner of Spartanburg county. We got sleet and freezing rain all day yesterday. Fortunately, we didn't drop below the magic freezing line. Trees and stuff above 15 to 20 feet had ice in them. Just enough to see. Not enough to start weighing things down and causing problems.

Just remember that when the Polar's finally decide to do a flip flop (Earth is well over due for that natural event...), weather all over the world will be "fun" for everyone... it's not just "Al Gore's, Humans created Global Warming" we have to worry about

I worked at the lake house today ,we have had significant snowfall in the last week or so ,@nd nobody had been cleaning the decks and stairs so it was quite a mess .The owner purchased a very tiny Honda snowblower last week ,looks like it would be sized correctly for a GI Joe doll ,but I own a ton of Honda power equipment and it has all been top notch .I figured out how it operated and started top down on the 4 decks ,then cleaned up the stairs last .Anyways ,I thought this thing would be undermatched ,but boy was I wrong .It certainly wouldn’t be a good blower for large areas ,but I couldn’t imagine a better working blower for smaller areas .In some places there was snow a foot higher than the glass railings ,although for the most part the snow was between 2 and 3 feet .After finishing the first deck ,I had to drop down a floor to deck #2 ,so I ran it down the stairs ,then the same thing once again until I finished the four decks .Now ,I am down 4 floors and have to get this thing back up .On the way down I cleared one width of the blower ,the stairs are 5 ft wide ,and very steep .I pulled up to a dirty part of the stairs ,tipped the front of the machine up ,and .....that SOB pulled itself up the stairs while blowing snow !It worked well enough I backed it down again and made a third pass .I made it up the 50 or so feet of stairs all by itself except for about the last 6 steps ,they had a ton of ice on them and the tracks were just spinning ,no problem I can certainly shovel that .I ran it hard for 5 hours and it didn’t skip a beat .
Anyways ,I am thinking I might just have to get me one of these .I am very impressed .

The Nebraska curse is back. We are supposed to start getting temps in the mid to upper 30's, but this morning we got one more heavy snow to toss a few (8) more inches of snow on top as a sort of sadistic farewell. We broke our record snowfall for January last set in the late 1800's. I can't wait for this white crap to disappear and the first big rain or two to hit and wash all the salt and sand off of the road. I am getting cabin fever not being able to ride.

We are going to get another foot this weekend, I am tired of it.

Here is a little humor

A SOUTHERNER MOVES UP NORTH

Dec 8 5:00 pm - it's starting to snow. The first of the season and
the first one we've seen in years. The wife and I took our hot
buttered rums and sat by the picture window watching the soft flakes
drift down, clinging to the trees and covering the ground. It was
beautiful!

Dec 9 We awoke to a lovely blanket of crystal white snow covering
the landscape. What a fantastic site. Every tree and shrub covered with a
beautiful white mantle. I shoveled snow for the first time in years
and loved it. I shoveled both our drive and sidewalk. Later, a city
snowplow came along and accidentally covered our drive with compacted
snow from the street. The driver smiled and waved. I waved back and
shoveled our drive again.

Dec 10 It snowed an additional 6 inches last night and the
temperature has dropped to about 11 degrees. Several limbs from the
trees and shrubs snapped due to the weight of the snow. I shoveled
again. Shortly after, the snowplow came by and did his trick again. Much
of the snow is now brownish-gray.

Dec 11 It warmed up enough during the day to create some slush which
soon became ice when the temperature dropped again. Bought snow tires
for both cars. Fell on my ass in the driveway. $145
to a chiropractor but nothing broken. More snow and ice expected.

Dec 12 Still cold. Sold the wife's car and bought a 4X4 in order to
get her to work. Slid into a guardrail anyway and did considerable amount
of damage to the right rear quarter panel. Had another 8 inches of that
white sh%t last night. Both vehicles covered with salt and crud. More
shoveling in store for me today. That Go#Dam snowplow came by twice
today.

Dec 13 2 degrees outside. More $uckin' snow. Not a tree or shrub on
my property that hasn't been damaged. Power was off most of the night.
Tried to keep from freezing to death with a kerosene heater which
tipped over and nearly burned the house down. I managed to put the
flames out but suffered 2'nd degree burns on my hands and lost most of
my eyelashes and eyebrows. Car slid on ice on the way to the emergency
room and was totalled!!

Dec 14 Go$dam mother-$uckin' white $hit keeps on coming down. Have
to put on all the clothes we own just to get to the *ucking mailbox. If
I ever catch the son-of-a-bitch that drives the snowplow, I'll chew
open his chest and rip his heart out. I think he hides around the
corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then comes down the
street about 60 MPH and buries our drive again. Power still off.
Toilet froze and part of the roof has started to cave in.

Dec 15 6 goddam more *uckin' inches of $uckin' snow and #uckin' sleet
and #uckin' ice and god knows what other kind of white #uckin's $hit fell
last night. I wounded the #uckin' snowplow asshole with an ice axe but
he got away. Wife left me. The car won't start. I think I'm going
snow-blind. I can't move my toes. More #ucking snow expected tonight.
I'm moving the #uck back to Texas!!!

I don't know how you guys do winter in the northern states, i love watching the snow when it comes our way but i think i would probably end up like the guy in the poem if i had to live in a heavy snow fall area. We have been having very nice weather here in South west NM and although we do get snow in Silver City (6000FT ) it normally melts away as soon as the sun shines. The good news here is if you pick your days you can literally ride year round and because of the elevation we don't get that oppressive heat like Tucson or Phoenix .

Keep you snow blower and snow shovel ready for action and enjoy .
