This 400 just showed up on EBAY. Pictures are too small to get an idea of who makes it. The guy says he got two to test the market. Not EPA approved yet.

I don't even think this is a picture of the bike. The ad says they are water cooled, but it doesn't look like it the picture.

Beginning bid is $1599 and that doesn't even meet the reserve.

Hmmmm, interesting but I dont think I'd bid on an item that isnt even here yet.
It may never get off the docks and even if it does it may never be registerable for road use or atleast not until the others are OK'd for use here but then these 2 might still be left out of the loop.(it's a gamble)

I wonder if that engine would fit my LF200GY-5.

I am glad to see it is here in michigan and if it worked out I could just make the short drive to get one.

It is interesting to see a larger motor, but I agree with Teamcheap, it's too risky if it's not even EPA approved yet.

That's the Xingue something or another that Bruce mentioned from the Expo. He's not supposed to be selling that bike w/o EPA certification, at least, that is what I think the law says. He could theoretically have the bike confiscated. (I haven't looked at the listing to see if it's even located in the US)

Here's a quote right from Bruce (from his post about the '08 Expo in the "misc" section)--I am putting 2 and 2 together and figure that this Ebay seller was at the Expo, and made a deal to "sneak" two bikes in w/o EPA-

"Xingyue {pronounced Sheng Yea} Dropped their 250cc D/S last year and started working on a 400cc D/S, that was at the show along with a 400cc Motard street version. {see pics in the D/E 2008 gallery} I nit picked the 400 D/S to death. Here are the things that need work and between my distributor and myself {he translated}, I was able to explain how we use these bikes off road {normal use} no motocrossing as some think these bikes are made for. It needs the one radiator hose re-routed {explained to their Tech}, a metal battery box, and a better air filter. The bike is very nice, at 5'9" tall I fit it nicely. The front forks could be larger but they work well, the rear shock is very nice and overall the bike looked very durable. The seat is bolted on through the rear fender & frame. The body plastic is durable {not hard}. It has a 2.5 gallon fuel tank. 520 drive chain. Square tube frame. "

Read that sellers EBAY add carefully and you'll see he does not even have those bikes in his possession.
He doesnt expect them for E-gad's, 15 days at the dock.
That and the 1 feedback.YIKES

YES they could very well get confiscated and more he states the BUYER will be responsible for all documentation as far as registering and such, yeah right try passing that one thru the old S.O.S here.

I'd never buy it without it even being in the sellers possession , it's not even on the shores of north america.

Best thing to do is wait it out until they really are here.

Vehicle Description

i just ordered 2 of these to test the market for a larger more powerful water cooled chinese eec enduro.this auction is for 1 in 400cc watercooled dual sport bike in blue.bike comes with vin# eec origin sheets and is even pending epa for 50 state legal at this moment. titling and registering is strictly the buyers job to research and do,as there are so many different requirments state to state.i am not a motorcycle dealer,i am a sales tax licensed parts reseller in michigan looking to diversify my business, and will have to charge 6% sales tax to michigan residence.my reserve is what i paid for the bike.shipping is whatever actual cost is to your business or residence(size and weight are listed in description,so you can get an accurate shipping quote)bike will ship from a 49509 business w/loading dock.the ship with these 2 test sample bikes arrives in 15 days.i will only open crates to inspect and verify papers at customs and then close crate to ship to you or for pickup.there is very minor assembly required with tool kit provided.and 90 day factory warranty.but as you probably know, these full size chinese bikes are very well built and should provide many years of service(they've been driving them in their homeland and improving on their technology for decades.just look at their rocket technology and sucess rate).if you want a great bike for less than 1/2 what japanese manufacturers price theirs at,with enough power for full size adult fun and cruising, this should fit the bill.

Its a nice looking bike from what I can tell. I wish the pictures were better.
But even at that I wouldn't want to pay that much to be a guinniepig.

He lowered the starting bid to 999.99. Looks like no one is biting. He'd be better off waiting until he gets them off the boat and puts one together so he can take some better pictures.

So what happens if you bid, win and he cant take it thru customs does he refund your money? (just way to shaky)

I'd buy one from him after he has it in his possession and titled to him.

The picture sure is a pic of The Xingyue 400, but I'll bet he doesn't ever get them in the country.

Thats what I'm thinking bruce, he'll never get them off the docks.

So if customs refuses entry do they just get sent back or what?

From what I understand (but could be wrong), they get sent back or destroyed. I don't know who this is up to though.
Importing... not 100% sure, I have heard some of the crap & people (Broker, Translator, Licenses, etc.) but I'll stay away from all of that for now.
