New tires/tubes needed

Still got about 50% on my stock shark knobbies looking for 70/30 tires and good tubes about 150 total stock size is 110/90-17 for the rear and 90/90-19 for the front.

No im not i put new rims and tires on my truck and ny mpg went down 12% and my acceleration suffered and i only went up 2 inches in rim size rotational mass has a huge. Influence on acceleration mpg and with this 15hp engine top speed

I had Shinko 705s on my last Hawk with 4mm thick tubes, a setup heavier than the stock knobby tires and thin tubes. I noticed no drop in mpg or acceleration.

My main question is hiw big can i go on these tires without making the speedometer practically useless or issues with it fitting on the rim/tube fitment also good decently priced heavy dity tubes would be apprciated but that depends on the tires

My question was about both i clearly said what size tire without adding EXCESSIVE rotaional mass ie. How big can i go without negatively impacting accelration or squeezing a tire onto a rim it really shouldnt be on

As far as tire sizing it will really help to know what your rim widths are. It should be stamped somewhere on the rim. The rear is probably 2.15, which means you can safely run a 120/90-17, which would open up quite a few options. Another option would be a 4.6 x 17 rear tire.

A 120/90-17 is a little bigger in diameter which will gear you up 2.7%, which would be close to going down 1 tooth on the rear sprocket with your current rear tire.

A 4.6x17 rear tire is, for all intents and purposes the same diameter as your current tire (.04" smaller diameter) and a tiny bit wider by .33".

The bigger challenge will be the 19" front wheel. If that rim is only 1.85" wide, A 90mm width is about as wide as you can go. If you do decide to go with a 100 width, it will be severely pinched on a 1.85" wheel and is not recommended at all. The other option would be to run a skinnier tire like a 2.75x19, which is about half an inch narrower. The plus side is that diameter wise it is only about .2" smaller in diameter, so it shouldn't throw off the speedo very much.

This was always the issue with the smaller wheel bikes, finding dual sport/off road tires that meet all requirements. The only real option you have if you want to run the same brand/model of tire front and rear would be the Shinko 244 in a 4.6x17 rear and 2.75x19 front. The 244 is a 50/50 tire, but it does have decent on road manners as well. The plus side would be the cost. about $85 for both tires.

I was conskdering it with all the construction where i live but when the spokes break its more of a hassle plus i can run a tubeless tire with a tube. And thanks megadan. Im not a huge fan of mixing tread patterns on my vehicles but on a bike it sometimes serves a purpose dependant on riding conditions/styles.
