I called BMS and asked when they are expecting CARB on their CRP 250, which was reportedly going through certification, and the woman in customer service told me they are not going for certification anymore because 'it is too difficult.' Sad news :( :( :(

I am probably moving back to Arizona, anyway, so I will not have to worry about this nonsense anymore. I might get a machine and start manufacturing AR15s and Glock 17s as well, LOL

American Lifan couldn't even get its fuel-injected X-Pect 200 CARB certified for California! And they are headquartered in California!!

Without waxing too " political" ,it's simply nonsensical California insists on being the 1 State out of 50 with absurd regulations like CARB.It simply hasn't caught on so to speak and effectively is doing nothing other than making life miserable for Californians .

But i guess they voted for it so there is that, some people are just gluttons for punishment i suppose.

Sorry--should clarify that CARB is California Air Resource Board; similar certification that a manufacturer or distributor goes through for federal emission certification via the US EPA, but specific to one state; California. Because of the population size, most manufacturers/distributors go through the steps due to the potential for sales. As if that is not confusing enough, some other states will latch on and declare that a vehicle has to have CARB certification, so whereas many bikes are '49 state' certified, those vehicles are really 46 or 45 state certified. Our federal EPA is fine and should be the final authority...

I agree 100%. It is so frustrating that California has their own standard. Every state should abide by the EPA. Also, don't forget about how much it costs to be CARB compliant. I spoke with a vendor, and to register for a green sticker for one engine was 25k. Most of all the China bikes/ATVs are red sticker this year, that were green sticker the previous years. Same thing with the Japanese Bikes. I'm sure the "CARB compliance" charges had an influence. Even the 2019 Honda CRF50 is a red sticker bike...

It will be interesing in a few years here, it sounds like California is going to get rid of the Red/Green sticker in 2022. From what I understand it will be ether compliant or nothing...

For those not familiar with our wonderful program. If you have a green sticker "CARB Compliant", you can ride the bike/atv at all OHV parks all year. If the bike is a red sticker "non compliant", then you can only ride during certain times at OHV parks. I think Red sticker season is open October through April.

This is unfortunate as their 200 with EFI really caught my eye. I'm sure their bikes could pass the CARB tests with no problem if they really wanted to jump through all the hoops. I wonder what this means for the new 350's?

NZ, CARB is the California Air Resource Board. They are charged with reducing air pollution in California which is a good thing, but the smog continues to get worse here despite so many people moving out of the state recently. If you give CARB enough money you can obtain their blessing to sell motor vehicles in California. What they are doing is making inexpensive modes of personal transportation extinct in an effort to make us dependent on their terrible public transit systems.

I'm personally thankful companies like CSC go through the effort of getting CARB compliant. It's a huge expense for a small company.

With few exceptions CARB applies to all internal combustion engines. Doesn't matter if it's a generator, chainsaw, lawnmower or type of fuel used.

One of the drawbacks is Ebay and Amazon will sometimes not allow a sale because we are in California.

I think when everyone realizes what is going on it will be too late. Well...some people will never realize (Some still watch CNN). The more regulations the more control.

I remember the smog and air pollution California suffered with in the 70s -90s.. And steps were taken to clean up the air but logical sensible folks recognize that these small bikes are not the problem.....never have been never will be.

It's really a shame that businesses have to go through all this to get a bike in CA. When they do, it runs like crap and does not idle without the choke on for 5 min (wonder how much pollution that creates?). Then when someone buys it, the first thing they do is get on here to find out which carburetor to buy to get it to run right. lol
