Hello,

I recently got a real VM22 and the inlet is a monster. I have some 1/4 inch racing line and that seems like it is too small. Perhaps it just needs more force to go on.

So my question is for anyone running this carb, what size fuel line did you use and did you replace the fuel filter and petcock with a larger one? Links to parts that will provide the best way and fit to get the gas from the tank to the carb would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The fuel line size is 3/16", you can find it in silicone for cheap in various colors on EBay ,you can also find 3/16" in line fuel petcock and filters there.

Here's an Ebay link to some transparent blue fuel line of the right size, thats safe up to 100% Ethanol ( its the ethanol in american gasoline that eats up chinese fuel lines) https://www.ebay.com/itm/True-Blue-FUEL-LINE-HOSE-3-16-ID-x-5-16-OD-100-Ethanol-ORDER-BY-THE-FOOT/283135206895?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.S EED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D68f95 176b3314b4dbfbcc0d34d89c320%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D 2%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D272811360096%26itm%3D283135206 895&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Ab2cfee04-75f1-11e9-8b5a-74dbd1805e6a%7Cparentrq%3Ab436de2016a0ab67342e649d ffcaf685%7Ciid%3A1

Here is a link to one inline fuel petcock, 3/16" size https://www.ebay.com/itm/6MM-MOTORCYCLE-QUAD-ATV-IN-LINE-PETCOCK-VALVE-PETROL-ON-OFF-FUEL-TAP/272811360096?hash=item3f84d2ff60:g:r50AAOSwr6xZl47 C (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?campid=5337605188&toolid=10001&mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F6MM-MOTORCYCLE-QUAD-ATV-IN-LINE-PETCOCK-VALVE-PETROL-ON-OFF-FUEL-TAP%2F272811360096%3Fhash%3Ditem3f84d2ff60%3Ag%3Ar 50AAOSwr6xZl47C)

If you get on Ebay and poke around you can find both the fuel line in different colors , or black, or plain clear, and the petcock in everything from plastic to brass to chrome, depending on what you want.dont forget to order some 3/16" fuel line clips/clamps

Thanks.

3/16 worked on the clone carb although it was really tight. This carb inlet is huge. I think 5/16 is what it needs. I'm trying to figure out if I would be able to run 5/16 or 1/4 all the way to the gas tank or just to the petcock and use a petcock with different inlets to accommodate the larger line from the carb and the smaller line from the tank/fuel filter.

You can use two different sized fuel lines if you need to, as long as you can get them on there so they wont leak. I have seen some Mikunis with the larger brass inlet tube on the carb , i didnt have too much trouble with mine ,it was a super tight fit getting the fuel line on but I got it on there, i just hit it with a hair dryer on warm to soften it up some then slid it on there.

The little outlet pipe that comes out of the gas tank on mine is a metal 3/16" pipe so you'd have to put enough 3/16" hose there to give you room to add a 3/16" to say 5/16 " inch male/male brass inline fitting if you needed to or wanted to increase the fuel line size ,petcock size , fuel filter size, etc. ,and of course get clips / clamps in the right sizes. A good hardware store or larger auto parts store should have everything you need ,if there is a Tractor Supply store in your town, i always go there they got hardware for days lol.

Yes there is a tractor supply store a ways away. Cool, I'll probably keep 3/16 from the tank to the petcock (using a petcock with different sized inlets), then 1/4 from petcock to the carb then. I didn't know if there was any downside to mixing and matching fuel line sizes. I'll also try the hair dryer trick. Or I guess a heat gun on low.
