Okay, I admit I'm lazy and didn't go through every thread to check for the answer to my query..
Short back story:
I just put a DB17 on layaway with the idea to lock into a great deal and wait out the harsh Wisco winter to take delivery in early spring:lmao:

I don't think I can wait that long to get this bike home and commence wrenching. Add another hobby to my list. (Thanks motocheez):ohno:

So, my question is, are there any other DB17 owners out there that have done hop ups..exhaust..carb replacements..cosmetic stuff and if so, what and where.

I am a born modder. I get something whether it be a new RC car or bicycle or to some extent my car. Once I have it.. and often times before its used the first time, its in chunks being modded. :yay: I'm certain after initial oil change (before first fire up) and after I run it a bit, I'll be looking for things to change out.

I understand that these bikes all share cc to cc, the same honda clone single cylinder engines, so being new (ish) to china bikes I ask are engine tweeks a one size fits all??

I've replaced the carb. Highly recommended. Still having a bit of a bogging at mid RPM but it is rideable, where as before it wasn't at all. This is my son's first bike and I pooped around on it for a bit to feel it out. Feels good otherwise. Transmission is a bit kicky regardless of how you shift. But for $500 after shipping + $20 for a new carb, I can't complain. He will be hopping up to a Kawasaki once he doesn't crash every time he gets off the bike, lol.

Hi! i recently got my first Dirt bike/Pit Bike to mess around with. of course like anyone would do these days i started googling upgrades the same day i received it. First thing was adding a rectifier. so i can add lights for evening time rides. its a Wingsmoto from amazon. works great so far. second was the Mikuni Carb. (unfortunately it didnt work very well for me.) so i ended up going with another 20.00 amazon Carb. with a little tweaking of the air/fuel (im a complete newbie to carbs) i was able to get it set up nicely within a few minutes.

I noticed this bike was a little hard to kick over.

i decided to get the orange colored ingition coil + CDI on amazon $12!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076KDHCBP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it starts first kick now!

i got a new light switch. and bought myself a wiring plug kit so i can redo all the wiring myself. no more spliced and taped wires. they all have neat plugs! i believe it was 15$ on amazon.

don't forget to take off all the body panels when you get it and add lock tite to them. seriously after the first ride half of the bolts will go missing or be hanging on by a thread.http://www.chinariders.net/images/icons/duh.gif, the hardware they use isnt the best.

:p

anyways. after trying a buddies SSR 125cc with upgrades. i feel this one is just as good. loving my bike as of now :tup:19751
