Alright.

Simple question. I've tried searching quite a bit and I guess I'm just tired...so I'll just post it up.

Do most of these 200cc bikes...Hi-Bird, Lifan, etc...have approximately the same kind of performance??

Like, if geared the same, would the Hi-Bird 200cc be as quick and have the same type of top speed as a Lifan 200cc if they had the same rider on each??

Thanks.

Yes, it's really a matter of if you're comparing the push rod engines or the OHC engines.

The 200cc engines are most likely about the same power wise. Speed wise, the internal & external gearing will always makes a difference. Hi Bird or Viva frames compared to A. Lifan IMO are a lot cheaper made on the 200cc bikes. Two customers where here, one with a Hi Bird 200 D/S and one with a Viva 200 D/S. The Hi Bird & Viva 200 frames don't even compare, his {Hi Bird} plastics didn't fit correctly, his air filter cage fell apart when I showed him how to clean & oil his air filter etc. The Viva came in without most of the bodywork because I had to do some fabricating on a muffler the guy bought on line that didn't fit the bike.
The Lifan 200 Dualsport compared to The Hi Bird or Viva 200cc Dualsport, IMO, and not because I'm a A. Lifan Dealer, I would get the Lifan or just about any other 200cc dual sport.

To me, they are all relatively the same with a few differences. However, and others will agree with me--if I had the extra money to drive to Ohio, I would buy whatever brand Bruce had; he knows his stuff, even if you have to put up with his (sometimes) attitude  I bet his 200 (in his case happens to be a Lifan) would be less likely to need, well, anything. I think he offered to you elsewhere one of his '06's and if I was in your position financially and geographically I would be calling him up and bugging him personally to reassure myself, and then take the plunge and buy from him. (I really live far away in Arizona and do not know him personally, just his responses, and he does not pay me to endorse him--although that would be nice    )

This is the Hi-Bird I'd be looking at for $900.

I think it's a pretty nice looking machine. I like the graphics and the color. I don't know how I feel about the blinkers though.

A little expensive at the figured out $1120--like I mentioned, I would consider Bruce's GY-5, or like you mentioned, the 250 Hi-Bird. I do think the two guys who bought theirs right about the same time ('kczukiman' and 'universal diver') got them for $1100 shipped.

The lifan's are fat.
I couldnt stand riding it off road because those side panels stick out to far and dug into my legs.(I do a lot of standing when off roading)

Lifan uses's those huge bulbous side panels to try to hide the sloppy component layout on their bikes.

As I did the OHC engine install I also moved a lot of things around and made new side panels that ended with me having a very easy and comfortable bike to ride.

I wont try to tell you which bike to get but I will stress to you that you should go and actually look at, sit on and test ride the bike you plan to purchase.

In my opinion besides looks theres not a dimes worth of difference between them. Its like saying my sunkist orange is better then the delmonte. The only way to evaluate these bikes is for someone to buy one of each.Roketea,Hibird,Lifan,Speedy,no matter what they are the same quality period. They are made of cheap parts and we have to do our best to prevent a problem from happening.
But thats the fun of it.Find a bike that you like and a dealer that will support you and stay with this awsome site and you'll either like it or hate it but lets not fool ourselves these are 1200. bikes. If we stay on top of the them we will get our money's worth out of them if we slack we don't.
I am not a motor head but I've ownd Hibird atv's vbike atv roketa atv,and viva atv,and now Hibird 250 duel sport. These parts can inter change the quuality is the same.We are a product of our means .We love to ride but can't always afford to purchase a quality machine. But for me they are all the same period.
Now no offence to anyone but 200cc having the same basic power as a 250cc?

It might be that no two China bikes are exactly the same...well mabey there are a few that are the exact same but from what I get the parts and manufacturing gets tossed around a few different Chongqing companies, I know my Huansong has some Shineray blood in it Im just not sure where..mabey they manufactured the plastics or something...pound for pound I think these bikes are all in the same weight class....it really depends on what you do with it and what your intentions are for riding, my bike has a good feel to it for me, I like the look of the Lifan alot but its also very similar in appearance to my Huansong and every other China bike just about....most of the components on these bikes come from the same company...like speedo, and other controls, you can tell cause they all look the same pretty much...I bought my Huansong for $990 I added DOT tires $100, and a digital speedo $70...this is not including any of the importation and customs fees, to get this bike into CANADA, I know if there was a Canadian buyer interested in my bike it would cost them well over $2000 or they could find a dealer in CANADA somewhere although there seem to be few and your still going to pay almost $2000 for a Lifan etc in CANADA, and thats with no modifications!
They are all good bikes, its seems somewhat like a coin toss as to what your going to get exactly, but hey thats the cool thing!
