thanks
this initial un-crate and assemble quality is something bad a$% for me in the chonda world.
i have opened a few in my day and this one speaks high volume. i love the bike already.
by pushing it around and taking pics its a lot heavier than expected,
but in good way. feels like pushing a mid 70's cb350 around.
good solid bike here! first start up will prolly be this weekend and first ride will most likely be monday

Are the gas tank straps decoration or holding the tank on? Very nice looking bike. The rear fender removal was a good change.

i read somewhere they said decorative.
they are good quality to support it. i havent dug in there enuff to know yet.

That is a really good looking bike. I like how Lifan pushes to make original bike designs and doesn't make clones.

Will be interesting to see them grow. Could really challenge the entry bike market in the U.S. if they start getting a dealership network, better website, more marketing, etc. all set up.

The biggest issue I think they'll see (we're assuming quality is not an issue) is replacement parts. I mentioned this in the Small Engine Velocity discord channel years ago, but without a way to get replacement parts, it's going to be difficult for them to compete in the U.S.

I think someone from the discord channel talked to them because they shortly opened up an Amazon store. I think that helps a LOT. Next would be the availability of getting the bikes out to people and the marketing.

Reason I bring this up...

That KPM 200 is a GOOD looking bike. I think they're going to do well. Not much in this category if you're looking for scrambler and 300cc or less.

Only bikes you can call out is the Honda CB300R, CSC SG250, SSR Buccaneer. I may be missing one or 2, but this could dominate the market. Especially for people that want something like a Ducati Scrambler, but without the HUGE price tag and engine size.

Keep us updated! Interesting to see what can be done with these bikes.

i agree, but will have to be later on. capped out in the pocket book.
i dont know squat about fuel injection, so i am a bit cautious about changing exhaust and not mess up the computer efi. if engineered properly it should self adjust but no one has actually done it yet on this generation 2 motor. wish they have so i would know 100% no issues

automatically or is there a boot sequence restart ecu thingy?
i am extremely cautious here on changing any intake or exhaust on fi, but i will ride it stock for a while.
and this second gen motor have some sort of turbocharging on it?

The ECU will maintain the proper Air/Fuel ratio. So if the engine can flow more air the ECU will supply more fuel. The only time you would need to program the ECU is if you want to richen up the fuel mixture above what the ECU is programed for or if you wanted to adjust and increase the timing. Now if you add something like a turbo then you would definitely would have to reprogram the ECU. FI doesn't like a lot of timing and would also have to increase the fuel injector size which would need to be reprogramed for. There are performance chips that can increase fuel mixture. ;) https://www.magnumtuning.com/en/subcategorylist/bike-atv-jet-ski-snowmobile-performance-chips-parts/bike-upgrades

"Another advantage about KPM-200 is the 200cc NBF GENERATION II Engine, which adopts turbocharging, crankshaft displacement, roller valve rocker arm, piston spray and other core technologies. It exerts high compression ratio of 11:1, with the max power up to 12.5kw and max torque 17n.m."

paper work is in and monday i will get the tags.
i like this bike and how it rides. my 1st ride on a new bike sets the tone.
i love it! i was worried about my riding stance 6'2" lanky frame. i couldnt have a better setup, and cant wait to ride it to work(30 min ea way @55mph). it does have a huge jug of a gas tank. i opened it and discovered that some gas was already in it. lets see those other chondas try that. this tells me the fuel lines are good, besides how long do they expect this to be crated with gas in them? it was about 40 degrees and sunny on my short ride today. took some steep hills with no problem at all, and has to have more than 17hp. it doesn't vibrate like i expected it to, very smooth and fun in the s curves! it handles the rough pavement roads too. the exhaust is quiet! it also is a wide ride, not like the past few i have had.;).
gotta say Lifan is pretty good!

Glad to see you like it and enjoying the Kpm200. I was out today enjoying my new bike too. :D My poor Hawk was just sitting in the shed so took her out and made a few blocks to charge the battery. i am pretty sure this is an easy task to remove them. it appears to me that you would need to match up the other bolts around the gas tank lid. the belts attach underneath the tank and do not attach to anything other than the tank, so those can be removed easily.

Thanks for that, looks pretty quick and simple!

Also for the pics of the LED tag lights, I wondered how well those work. I need some for my RXB 250L, I tucked the plate up by the tail light and lost the tag light in the process... lol Technically I think I'm legal in the day time, but you're supposed to have them at night for sure. So far I haven't had an issue with it, but if it's one less reason to get stopped that's fine with me! lol I'm already getting funny looks riding a "dirt bike" on the roads, and been stopped by a game warden once. He saw the plate and told me to have a nice day, I'd met him coming head on and he though it was an offroad bike.

Those tag lights work really well actually. I ran a set on my GL1000 after doing a fender trim and floating plate bracket.

If there is any real downside to them, it is trying to make them removable if said plate has to come off. I had to search for some small wire gauge heat shrink bullet connectors to pull it off.

I should have some small enough connectors here on hand to do the LED plate lights. I just need to find a good source to get them for a good price. I'm guessing eBay/Amazon should be the place to look like most things these days.. lol

The Beards and Bikes channel recently bought a KPR200 touting it as 'the most expensive bike on Amazon'. The guy really took a liking to it, and I doubt they will put it through the abuse they heaped on the Hawk. I do think they should have bought the KPM200 instead of the KPR.

As far as the connectors go, you can likely find them at a hardware or automotive store locally. I ended up using 22-18awg heat shrink bullet connectors from O'Reilly's. The wires for the LED are very small, around 26-28ga, so it doesn't fit perfectly into said connectors. I had to double the wire over in order for the crimp to grab properly.

fedex tracking says being delivered to me 3/5/2020.:thanks:
i purchased them on 2/19/2020.
the prices are correct, and when they list an estimate for shipping,
lets say $8, its only for them to ship it to their nearby warehouse. THEN you will get an email with a more accurate shipping estimate, lets say $70 more, you will then upload some monies to your yoycart account for a 'holding' amount for the new shipping quote. it felt weird and not the norm, kinda paranoid, but i did it. i just this morn got a fed ex email saying tracking number and delivery expected this Thursday. i looked at my yoycart account balance and it was wiped out automatically for the extra $70 shipping.

The purchase and shipping process for taobao, yoycart, etc. is a little unusual, but it makes sense when you think about it. Those companies are essentially acting as something akin to a broker. They give you a domestic address with which to ship your purchases to and then put into holding in a warehouse. Once your items in question are at their warehouse they then setup international shipping for you, which you then pay for. I've done it a few times now, so my paranoia is a lot lower than it was the first time I went through the process.

The KPM is already a great looking bike...these will be the proverbial 'cherry on top'.

Any updates on the ride, issues, likes/dislikes, thoughts? I'm tempted by this one.

He got into an online disagreement with another member on the thread of the KPM200 top speed video I posted on the video/photo section, and quit Chinariders. You can probably ask him on his youtube videos but I haven't seen a new one posted for awhile.

Honestly, I would say just do it. Lifan USA has a good rep, and their build quality is much better than many other offerings out there. Plus I believe they come with a fairly decent warranty as well. They cost more, but you get what you pay for.

Otherwise, I would say look for a good used CBR250 or 300, or if you want a more naked Cafe bike like this, the CB300R can be had in carryovers from 2019 for around $4000, give or take. Which will bring another 10-12hp to the table, and Honda level quality.

Or, a 2 cylinder bike with a bit more power for about the same price, but without the Lifan quality behind it. https://www.belmontebikes.com/products/2019-gto-vitacci-motorcycle-fuel-injected-street-legal

I had a CBR250R for about a year or so and while a great handling package and top quality, I don't really enjoy revving the snot out of something every time I leave a stop! With these small, light bikes I'll take some torque in the low range over more HP up top every time. The chassis on that bike begged for about 40 HP, made me want to rip through the corners every time I went for a ride.

The latest CB500X is quite nice.

I just really like the KPM 200 Cafe style. They really did a nice, not derivative job on the overall look.

Did you see that video I posted from youtube (not mine) of the top speed run on one of So. Cal's freeways in the 'video/photo' section? This bike (I am guessing wasn't even broken in yet) was hitting an indicated 79 mph which I am guessing was 74 (Small Engine Velocity figured both his Lifans were 5 mph below their indicated speedo speed on one of his KPR200 videos).

Yes, I actually saw that a while back before I found this thread. I wonder if anyone else here has actually bought one?
