So I did it. Got a deal and had to go for it. Got me a Kawasaki klx300r. List is like $5500. One dealer had it at $6700 OTD. Called around and found one for $5100 loaded on my truck. It is such a great bike for this price. Very low maintenance. First valve check is 60hrs.

That is a smoking deal for that bike. Nice catch picking that one up. How do you like it?

Haven't gotten it dirty yet. It is the quietest bike i've ever heard. So you know it's being held back with all the EPA stuff. Still it will really go. Fuel injection, electric start, 6 speed, and great suspension. It could technically be counted as a china bike. I think most of it was made and assembled very close to there. Lol. I'll be taking it to the mountains this weekend. I'll give a report back after that.

Even BMW bikes contain parts from mainland China, these days.
Few experiences are as sweet as riding a good off-road dirt bike in the bush.

Nice! My daughter just bought a 2020 Klx 110, she got a good deal as well. Have fun with it!

Just an amazing bike. I was riding in the NC mountains today. Lots of fun on the KLX300R. Suspetion makes it feel like you are floating above all the rocks and roots. I haven't done a thing to it yet. If anything, I will add a little more preload to the rear spring. Engine was awesome. Tractor through the tight up hills and nail it in the straights. Never stalled or hiccuped. Best motorcycle I have ever ridden.

Did it feel heavy?
No not at all. It is basically the same weight as my tw200 and my apollo 250. Riding it though it actually feels lighter. They did a good job of keeping the weight distributed in the right places.

Those are great bikes. I owned 2 klx250s, pretty much the street legal version of your 300. In 10 years I never did a single valve check or had even a little problem with either of them. I like those 300’sand considered buying one but I’m trying to go lighter these days. That bike’s about 300 lbs and I’m only 145.
Those motors are indestructible and there are no shortage of them in Thailand with over 100,000 km’s On them
