Blinkers won't blink

Installed battery last night after the installation. Battery charged roughly 6.5 hrs.

Now, all the connections appear connected, yet the indicator lights come on, but do not blink. They just stay on. I swapped the flasher unit with one from my buddy's GY-5 (his signals work), but it made no difference.

Ideas? I'm suspicious of an undercharged battery myself. But the horn and headlight, etc. all work.

Check the battery voltage, you will need atleast 12.8v to make the flashers flash. Also check the bulbs, if a bulb is bad, the electronic flasher will not work. Pay close attention to the wiring harness, as the connectors could have popped loose for the turn signal lights also..

Do all the other lights function properly, hi and low beam? Whatever else is on the signal switch? I'd check all the connections, and the grounds.

All other lights function correctly.

All the bulbs light up, so it's not a question of a bad bulb, I don't think. They just won't blink.

The lights don't blink with the engine running, either.

are you sure you checked the flasher unit and not the cdi? They look the same and are located near each other. I had a bad flasher unit and replaced with a $2.00 unit from a local autoparts store

Signal lights won't come on when the headlight switch is OFF either - and they do on my friend's bike.

my did the same thing some times they would flash slow.i put biger lites in mine the work fine.the lites dont pull enough power to kick the flasher. a auto parts store will have the lites

What bulbs did you end up using?

I'd guess this could be the problem except for the fact that the lights dont blink when the headlight is off . .. that looks more like a wiring issue to me. But hey, what do I know?

Brake light works correctly? You need to get out your wiring diagram and check out the wires at the flasher...

Change all four bulbs to Sylvania single element, 1156, I think is the number. Costs $5. Even if its not the problem, they will be twice as bright as the Asian bulbs. I had a problem on only one side though with non-blinking. The bulb change fixed it.

Changing bulbs did not work - at least not with the generic CarQuest 1156's I put in today. They didn't have Sylvania bulbs.

It's strange. The signals only come on when the high beam is on, and they don't blink. They just stay on when you hit the switch.

I'm pretty puzzled.

When you were assembling, did you check all the connections for snug and/or use dielectric grease for them. You may just have a bad male/female connection. I'm guessing in the bundle behind the light.

There's lots of dielectric grease all around. Now, I started taking things apart today, and all is connected the way it should be - or so it appears anyway. It's very puzzling.

You would think that if two wrong connectors were hooked up, then two systems wouldn't work, but only one system does not work - the indicators. The headlight seems like it's wired somehow into the signal system, but the headlights work fine!

Solved.

It was a bent prong.....

Now, to fit the switches all back together!
