View Full Version : Ok just hear me out first - stroker hawk?

I’ve seen it asked about big bore kits for the hawk, seemed to me that even if there is still an offering it would be prone to overheating from thinner jug walls or not worth the investment for a minimal gain. But so far I haven’t seen it asked about a longer stroke crank and shorter connecting rod to increase displacement without altering the bore. Has anyone done any looking into this or am I blissfully ignorant to the limitations of the CG motors?

the issue with that idea is that the CG motors are already a stroked and bored 125... hence why everyone says you cant bore them... theres just not any room left in the CG form factor for more displacement without a complete redesign.

10-4, blissfully ignorant it is. I knew it was overbored but didn’t know for sure if it was stroked, much less stroked to the max. Was thinking there may be enough room to get another 3/8 to 1/2 inch of stroke

I've always hoped someone would regrind a performance cam for a CG. That would really be the icing on the cake, especially for those here who have ported their heads. My guess is that's the last place to look for more power, since more displacement isn't really a viable option.

there was recently a thread about this, theres performance cams out of some other country that i cant remember... and importing them i believe was a bit of an issue.... but they do exist... i recall finding one or 2 on Taobao or aliexpress as well, but was unsure of the fitment...

That was my thread, and I have a cam ready to go in. I am just waiting on the slow boat for my flywheel puller to arrive so I can get access to the cam pin to remove the original one.

The camshafts are by WGK out of Brazil. There are a couple of other companies that make profiles, but WGK is the only one that makes a cam that requires zero machine work for valve clearances or valve spring upgrades that has increased duration and overlap. That is the camshaft I have.

Groovy! You have a link to the cam?
Also, do you have the cam profiles of both the stock and WGK cam for comparison?

I'm waiting on one of the 290 degree duration cams to ship from Brazil, apparently USPS isn't excepting any parcels from there due to MX beer flu

I only have what WGK provides, and most of it is in Portugese. Even using a translator is only slightly helpful. This is my original post about it and how I was able to order it. http://www.chinariders.net/showpost.php?p=323576&postcount=221

This is the exact cam I have. https://wgkindustria.com.br/produtos/cg-125-bravo/ressalto-do-comando-cg-125-titan-racing/

It has more total duration and overlap over a stock cam, but adds no more lift. It is a cam designed to be installed without needing to do any machine work or other upgrades. The most I could find on the stock CG cams was that they have 210 degrees of duration on the cam lobe, although there was no specifics as to if that was total duration, or duration measured at a certain lift point.

They do have other cam profiles with technical data and even dyno comparisons showing where the power increase comes from, but most of those have an increase in lift which requires recessing the valve seats in the pockets more and potentially fly cutting the pistons for clearance.

Sounds like you ordered the same one I did. I had to wait almost 6 weeks for mine to arrive even without the whole shipping delays of this virus getting in the way.

There is a 270cc water cooled version of the CG that is used in trike pick-up trucks; perhaps that crank could be used in a 223cc CG (assuming it's not the same stroke as the 223). Dunno. I might be tempted to buy one from Taobao and find out.

Funny thing is, most water cooled CG300 engines have a 64mm stroke while the air cooled CG250 has a 65mm stroke.
