OK.. .so I'm curious about something. I have a 2017/2018 Tao New Cheetah for my kid... it's a "125" but the engine says 120 on the jug (even though it's branded as a 110 lol. I know, nothing makes sense on China bikes.

So here is my thought.. is this Tao Motors 120/125cc engine the same as the one (or a variant perhaps) of what is used in the 125 Hellcat Raptor? I would think that Taotao would not have too many different engines in the same size or size family... why the extra expense, right?

The engines look very similar with only minor variances that I can tell from pics of the Hellcat engine. Although the atv engine has a PZ22 carb and I'm pretty sure the Hellcat has a PZ26..not entirely sure.

The reason why I'm wondering is two-fold. One, Hellcat mods can be applied to my kids Cheetah atv, and also ... I can apply what I know from upgrading and working on the atv engine to my new Hellcat that I am ordering as soon as stock is replenished.

Thanks for any info anyone has! Here are some pics of the Cheetah 125 engine:

I have a Hellcat 125. The engine is a manual clutch, 4 speed (1-N-2-3-4). Comes with a PZ25 carb.

Common mods (I have not done these yet):
VM22 Mikuni carb (26mm), intake (26mm), pod-filer
real NGK plug
free-er flowing exhaust (louder)
re-gearing... 17T front sprocket

All these basic mods should also work on your ATV

Cheers!

Thanks @ripcuda! I had forgotten about the transmissions and clutch differences. The atv 125 is a f-n-r no clutch.

A bigger carb, intake and exhaust are definitely needed on this atv engine. The 22mm inlets on this thing are just so restrictive. I've actually dropped a tooth in front as I don't need top speed or to lower cruising rpm, but instead need low end power and take off.
