Model Comparisons

Hello,
I've done some searching, but didn't come up with a single place that has all of the models of dual-sports listed. I know there are many manufactures of these bikes, but what I was looking for is a chart showing the basic between each 'version' of the bikes, like gy-5, gy-2, etc. If it's out there please point me to it, if not, I'll see about starting to put something together for reference.

The GY2 is the older model. The GY5 is the newer version.

2 is shorter with smaller tank than the 5.

Both models can have either discs or drum rear brakes. Conventional forks, tachs, OHC engines etc.

Big difference is the shorter seat height and the smaller gas tank the rest is determined by the importer.

Don't forget all the different "brands'" GY bikes out there!
Jetmoto, Roketa, Tank, Hi-Bird, Lifan, Zongshen, Shineray, Yumbo, Diamo, etc. etc.

Can we assume that GY-2 is faster than GY-5 because the former is smaller and lighter than the latter?

Not really. The physical size and weight is not much different and the gy5 has the better OHC engine which makes better top end power for high speed use.

No, I would say one is faster if it's OHC vs. pushrod since the pushrod has a little less power.

Well this brings up a good question. If the -2 is shorter (better for me), will the larger tank from -5 fit on it?

From what I see, it appears the GY2 was originally designed for the 150cc size bike that was later adapted for the 200cc. The GY5 came out designed for the 200cc engine. I do not know this to be fact, but this is my guess because the GY2 was sold with the smaller engines and I have never seen a GY5 sold with anything smaller then a 200.

My bike is listed as a GY4a on the frame and I know there are GY3's as well, so not sure where they fall in here.

Ask member Jim, and one other (from Canada) who own them. For starters, the engine is slightly different, hence no EPA :cry:

I believe the EPA is a USA agency so it would not be needed in Canada. I'm sure they have something similar but with a different name.
