View Full Version : Water in engine oil.. BE CAREFULL!!

So like many I pressure wash my bike and clean it off often. Recently I was concerned when I found brownish engine oil indicating water or heavy moisture in the oil. This can be very bad for rod and main bearings. The cause seems to be where the tac cable goes into the engine/tranny. I used clear RVT to seal it up, its pretty important to make sure water does not contaminate the oil. Also make sure the timming mark screw on the magnito cover is tight along with any other possible ways of entrance.
Just thought id share, ride on!

Huh?? the speedo cable goes into the front hub. The only way water could enter the crankcase, if it is promperly sealed, is through the vent tube.

Thats why I stand back and have the wand about 3 feet or more away from the bikes when spraying.
I just take a little more time to clean it off is all.
The pressure washers work well but can cause some headaches also.
Great for sticker removal.

I gently hand wash my bike with a bucket and a sponge.

I spray it with simple green and rinse with a hose.

I think a mechanical tach would be more reliable and accurate as ours(electrical) are out of wack in my opinion.

He very clearly stated "Tach Cable "

I think that might have been what the edit was about...

Correct. The quote in the second post shows the original, unedited statement.
I want to hire some bikini clad babes to wash my bike... :D

That is a better method. Pressure washers are quick and easy, but they drive water into everything. Bearings, fork seals, etc, don't like water in them.

I have seen the china bikes with mechanical tachs and at times wished ours had that style of tachometer.
It's scary that I knew what he meant right off without jumping on him for being wrong.
The more important part was the water getting into the engine.
Power washing these is very bad for them because it is so easy to push water in where it should never go.
yeah I still do it but at a distance with a weak electric power washer and even so it still gets into stuff.

Need not say more.. He corrected it AFTER I made the comment.

wow its getting nasty quick huh!? yes I corrected it because I made a mistake and said the speedo instead of the tac because they both use a cable and I typed the wrong thing, I changed it so that people that read it would not get confused and clog up the post with junk about how they didn't understand... looks like it happened anyway..

You should have bought a sportbike--they come stock with them!
Porterz, moral of the story--stand back a little further with your pressure wash, or hire bikini-clad women to wash it! (yes, photos please!!)

A standard hose with a power nozzle should get that stuff clean on the bike w/o much problem. Seems a power washer is not really needed unless you want to peel of the paint and stickers.

Just so you know in the future, if you take a minute to explain why you make an edit, it doesn't leave it open for debate. It's there for all to see that a mistake was corrected, or whatever.
If you edit something that is already a part of the thread without making it clear as to what you've done, you end up with confusion....as seen here. :)
Something like this could have prevented the clog -
"Editied to correct the speedo/tach mistake"
But, maybe not. We need something to rag on about anyways, don't we?
Do the bikini babes come stock w/ a cruiser? I'm not sure I can do the sport bike thing again. 8)
Where's the local bikini car wash when you need one?

What am I missing here?? Didn't you guys get the second drop-ship box with the Chinese twins in bikikis? Mine came about 3 hours after the bike was delivered. Funny it was the same delivery truck driver and he had a big smile on his face. Hmmm.....................

Damn! Now I know what happened. When I was called for delivery I decided to go pick it up myself. I bet they had the crated twins stashed away in the back. 8O
I bet that dock was really rocking later that afternoon. No wonder the guy was so eager to get me loaded and gone.
I wonder if they are covered under the warranty....hehe

They don't use the twins anymore for good reason I guess they sent them out to one of the members on here and when they returned it was said " the merchandise came back damaged" whatever that means.. the driver also has this ich now that won't go away and he said something about how it burns when he pees. He told me whatever I do to stay away from them im not really sure what he is talking about but I took his advice.

yea they must have switched to blow up dolls for health reasons.
There was one site that said if you buy a bike from them they will include a date with a hot babe at no extra charge, I am dead serious! I can look for the link its here somewhere.
