Got my Viva today and it's mostly together. One small problem-can't find the rear suspension link bolt. The nut is there but no bolt. Is there some special hiding place, or is it supposed to be in the parts bag in the box?

No biggy the hardware store should have one that'll fit.

Geez must be nice. All my bikes have been used, and all needed some RE-assembly, where everything is stripped out or greasy.. Do enjoy, My Viva has given me miles of enjoyment with little problems.

If you haven't put your front tire on yet check the speedo hub, on both of my new Shineray bikes the shock bolt was ran through the speedo hub. Like a good game of hide and seek. :D

Thanks Mustang! :D

Hmm, it does appear that it was assembled once before. Marks on the choke bracket from bolts and light chain wear on the rear sprocket.

Wonder if they run them up on rollers at the end of the assembly line as a final drivetrain check like they do on car assembly lines. :?

Wolf,

The wheel is on and don't remember anything in the hub. That doesn't mean it didn't fall out in transit leaving just the nut behind. I'll have to fish around in the packing materials spread all over the place.

Congrats on the bike. It may be easier to run down to the hardware store for a bolt.

I think they are fully assembled at the factory to be tested and then crated.

My lifan had 4 kms on the odometer.

Yeah, my Roketa came with 3.2 miles on the ODO. At least they check to see they run before the crate them.

Didn't think to look at the ODO last night :)

Now i'm curious! Havta see how many mile are on her already.

Definite visit to the hardware store today. Stripped both battery strap screws getting them out.

Basically just did a mockup last night to see if everything is there and how it all goes together.

Tested the electicals this morning before going to work. :)

Today will be the real loctite assembly of everything.

Congrats on recieving the bike. I have a different brand of bike and i think the shock bolt was in the accesory box but I could be wrong. When i picked up my bike, Tim at VBikes insissted we take the box off the crate and go over the contents. Sure enough, there was only 3 of the 4 bolts for the handle bar clamps. The small fasteners, there were extras which sometimes confused me as I was unsure which ones to use.

My shock bolt was also on the speedo hub. It took me a few minutes to find it. All the other bolts for my bike were in the box. The instruction manual was horrible, so I tossed it aside and used the bolts I thought were correct. When I put the rear shock bolt in I used a floor jack to lift the rear up to just the right spot for the bolt to slide in. This method worked pretty good for me.

I've got about 77 kilometers on it now and it runs good. I do need to still get me a 46t rear sprocket.

Well, congrats on getting your new ride. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun!

My Roketa came with enough extra bolts to replace about every bolt, nut , washer, and bushing on the bike. I saved them all but haven't had to replace a single one so far at 2000 miles. I wonder if someone else got a Roketa with NO bolts at all 8O .

Lots of extras would be nice!

What about that headlight adjustment bolt? Hope i won't need to adjust the beam very often.

Dad and I got a bunch of extras too. Funny though, I had just the right amount for the DB_07B.

Took 'er for a short jog across the road to my FIL's place. Hard to find neutral-may just be the syrupy chinese oil makes the clutch drag a little. Ordered a 16 tooth sprocket and will get a 45 or something close for the rear later.

Yeah, grabbed 4 gears in about 100ft. Reminds me of my old RL250

As soon as the MSO arrives i'll be hitting the streets! :)

Nice! :D

Congrats on the bike!

I only had 2 small extra bolts, both about 1 1/2" long w/ nuts, too. I spent 2 days looking to see if I could find a place to put them, but eventually chalked them up as extras.

And my neutral is also a bit sketchy. I can put it in neutral and get the light on, but unless I slowly release the clutch, it will engage, usually in second gear. It's fine if just ease the clutch out...it's never engaged like that, but if I just pop it out thinking it's safely in neutral, it wants to engage. But, knowing what to expect and acting accordingly, it's not a problem.

Also, I wouldn't keep that chinese oil in there. I warmed up my egine with it and then changed the oil before mine was ever put into gear.

Brian @ MotoXtreme provides fairly comprehensive assembly notes, but they were still a tad shy of explaining it all for the novice....but maybe that's a good thing? Being too dependant on instructions could lead to apathy...or worse, if the instructions are wrong the unexperienced could follow them to the letter and still have an unsafe ride. Give a man - teach a man - fish type thing. It's better to encourage learning.

And last but not least, I think I only had .4 on my odometer 8O

Good to hear you got your bike and are riding.
I had a whole sealed up bag (Appx 50) kick stand bolts and an open bag(appx30) nuts to go with them. I don't think I'll run out of kick stand bolts soon.

I'll check out those assembly note, thanks.

Had a few chuckles reading the manual.

Just ordered a 16 tooth front sprocket only to find out tonight that it came with a 17 tooth already. So, i guess i'll have a spare.

The 58 tooth rear sprocket will become a forty something ASAP.

My wife scolded me for driving across the street w/o a helmet

Sounds like the worker that was filling the boxes must also attach the kickstands

No, it is the way that the selector spider is manufactured. There is no way around it. Normally the tabs are all the same size, but in this situation it is much smaller. This makes skipping over it quiet easy. I have learned to downshift down to first then up to N before I stop. It is dang near impossible to get it up to N when you come to a complete stop.

Guess you only really need neutral to start it anyway.

I can start in any gear now.

My clutch switch broke so it is bypassed.

Took her out for her first spin. 80 miles for the days ride, almost broken in. :) Shepherdstown, Scrabble, Swan Pond and all over creation

She went without a hitch. Never had a bike with REAL brakes before

Wasn't happy about needing to rev 8K to go 50MPH though. Waiting for the 39 toother to show up.

Took a tour of Anteitem Battlefield, stopped by Dam 4 on the Potomac and WOW the water was so high from all the rain. 8O

I was kinda hoping I could get a bike without stickers anyhoo!
Not anti-china bike, just anti-logo period. Even with my cars.
Who did you get that Viva from?

Wait, you mean EPA sticker?

Bought mine from www.atvsimports.com.

Has the EPA sticker, but no DOT sticker. Does have all the regular Viva decals except the line of stars- and stuff.

AFAICT the only qualm that the DOT would have with this bike is that the headlights have to be turned on manually. I just leave the switch on so i don't forget.

The screen printed logos on the seat are spotty on one side and the top which is a very small irritant.
