I've been doing some "spring cleaning" since I have been trapped inside for almost 10 days straight. Ran into some old pictures, and got a kick out of this one.

This is 2001, and fresh out of high school me posing like I am "cool" with my 1989 Isuzu Impulse Turbo. All the ladies wanted me for sure! ;) :lmao:

Or how about not-quite-so-mega Dan in 1984? I was much more of a ladies man back then.

And, just for the hell of it, here is a St. Bernard/Great Pyrenese mix being a goofy girl.

Just thought I would bring a little levity to your day and give you somebody to laugh at lol.

Lol!! It's funny you posted that picture next to the Impulse. I was literally looking at those last night for a future project!

And the objects in the picture are larger than they appear next to MegaDan. :p Awesome pictures. Most of my old picture are in black & white except for the few that were carved in stone. :lmao:

Believe me. I have owned 2 of them. Not for the faint of heart. Especially now.

Old is just a relative term anyway. Did Moses at least keep the negatives for you? :p :lmao:

Hey Dan, my buddy had an Impulse like that and his ball joints broke not once, but twice. He babied that thing too. You have that issue? It really sucked going down the road and having the front tire collapse into the wheel well.

Nope, I never had the issue. The front suspension was actually a variation of the same suspension used in both the Chevette and Fiero. Chevette owners in particular liked to take the front spindles, hubs, calipers, and rotors for upgrades on their cars. The rest of the suspension was different enough that they couldn't interchange, but some of the smaller parts could be interchanged loosely.

That said, it would also depend on the years. There were a couple of suspension revisions front and rear between the first and last model years. 1987 being the biggest redesign and the introduction of the "Lotus Tuned" suspension. 88-89 being the best years overall, all models having the Lotus Tuned suspension. Lotus actually did a lot of work with Isuzu to redesign several components and change spring and shock rates, angles, and even locations and adding links out back. Damn good handling cars.

They DID have a funny issue with rusting out the front shock towers though, and those would give out and cause the same wheel tucked issue lol.

Were those front or rear wheel drive?

Rear for the 83-89 generation. Front or AWD for the 90+

The best upgrade for a Chevette is not having a Chevette!

I remember when my old man was selling a Chevette Cameo for a few bucks and he got several calls from people wanting to buy his Corvette and/or Camero for sale, was truly hilarious.

When I was in high school, my buddy used to tell other car guys that his mom had "a 4 door 'vette".
