No non-ethanol fuel in my area, options?

Been doing some research on this as there are no areas around me that have non-ethanol I plan to use regular 87 as my Ghost is rated for it. I figured people on here probably know way more than I could search up.


It seems like a lot of people recommend Sta-bil 360 and Sta-bil Marine and I was told that something about using gas for boats? There are a lot of boats/marinas near me but I've never actually been to one so I imagine you can't just ride over and fuel up so what is the best option?

More than likely the marina will have ethanol free fuel.

You may , or may not be able to get access to the pumps at a marina on a motorcycle, so a fuel can will likely be required. As far as the ethanol goes, it wont actually hurt the engine but it will indeed rot the cheap not really rubber stock fuel lines and cause all kinds of trouble, i suggest switching the fuel lines to silicone based ones as soon as possible, whether you find ethanol free gas or not. You can find 3/16" see thru silicone fuel line in your choice of colors on Ebay for like $5 that will be enough to replace every gas line on the bike.

Run regular fuel in it, and ride it regularly. I've never used non-ethanol fuel, and never had a problem, just don't let it sit for a month or two without running it.

If you live in a dry climate you will probably never have an issue with ethanol other than eating up rubber fuel lines and gaskets. If you live in a high humidity area like I do the ethanol will absorb the moisture out of the air and turns to gel in no time. That the main reason for not ethanol for boats. I've worked on too many boat motors and have seen what it can do. Use Sta-bil Marine, keep the tank full and drain if you know it will set up for a long period.

My experience with ethanol is that time is the issue. On my bikes and quads, ethanol works fine so long as they dont sit for more than 6-8 weeks.

We have several places around in our smaller counties that I can get ethanol free gas. However, if you have any OHV parks around, some will carry ethanol free gas for off road use only. You might check that route.

Now, that right there is an astute observation. Just because they SAY it's non-E doesn't mean it is, and our local sole source of non-E was just caught selling the regular ethanol-diluted stuff. But no worries -- newer bikes in particular are made to run on the weak stuff, and the problems it can cause generally won't occur so long as it doesn't sit in the tank for months. I keep fuel stabilizer in the gas during the winter months and add a dose occasionally during the heavy riding season and have no fuel problems with my three bikes. And don't forget, if you leave a bike sitting for months on end you'll have lousy gas in the tank even if it's non-E.

not that anyone really cares....LOL but i just got my bike out of storage (buried under my back deck covered with moss) and got it back on the road over the weekend, it had a gallon of 3 yr old non treated e10 87 octane (rm/2 method for those that care) still in the tank that i diluted down with 2 more gallons of 87 e10 and the bike started right up and ran like i had just parked it last night. a lot of people overthink the ethanol debate... over the weekend i have put 100 miles on the bike with no hiccups at all....

Edit: would like to add i ran the carb dry before storing it.
