Hi!
Back again with another question relating to buying stuff :P

I’m trying to get one or two 49cc gas scooters from China (I’ve been looking on alibaba).

I haven’t done badly at all, in fact I’ve found one I’m a big fan of right here: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/New-Powerful-49cc-Pizza-Gas-Scooter_60574618205.html?spm=a2700.9114905.0.0.Hrh Esu

Funny title there, probably thanks to google translate xD
Titles aside the brand seems good, they’ve been selling for 6 years and they have a pretty good website where the models have demonstration videos (4scooter.com).

I’d probably already be in contact with the dealer trying to get some (yes I know the MOQ is 5 but I may be able to get less as “samples”) if I hadn’t heard from someone on here that there are thousands of dollars of import fees? (For an ATV anyway.) I looked it up but couldn’t understand anything.

Anyway, :thanks:

It’s not import fees ,they have to be EPA compliant and the testing to pass that is thousands of dollars so not worth it for only a few units .

I’ve heard that there are some workarounds, can I use those to my advantage?

Edit: I’ve contacted the guy you said knows some stuff about this…. Thanks!

Quite a deal, considering that I paid more than that for a Chinese 2 stroke engine kit to mount on my bicycle.
-BUT, I have to agree with Bruces on this.
-US Customs is always looking for ways to stop Chinese gas powered items from entering into the country. We had a post last week where a member's Chinese motorcycle was seized by US Customs because the wording was not completely correct on the emissions stickers. Nothing was mechanically wrong with the bike. Customs has impounded the bike until the correct emissions stickers arrive and are applied.
-I am afraid you may pay for a scoot and never receive it because US Customs may seize it.
-If you can afford to lose the money on the Alibaba scoot, give it a try. Otherwise, buy from an established importer that can deal with the red tape like the sites that advertise on this forum. Just my 2 cents.

He "may" be able to get away with that one, honestly. It's small, 2 stroke, and not for road use. I think there's a blanket cert to cover the little tool based engines.
