I bought this bike for my daughter and after the first ride on it, she accidentally pushed the start button when she tried to kill the motor. I heard the starter try to start the running motor so I immediately pulled her hand off it and killed it for her. After this, the electric starter wouldn't work. I thought she killed the starter motor, so I just kickstarted it for the rest of the day.
Turns out the starter fuse was burned. After replacing the fuse, the electric starter would work. Within seconds of the motor running, the fuse would again burn out. I traced the short to the rectifier. I replaced it and now the bike seems to be fine.
In order to avoid further accidental start button pushes when the motor is running, I removed the key switch and replaced the poor excuse of a start/on-off switch with "REAL" start & kill switches on opposite sides of the bars. Here's the mod I posted on a sister Chinese bike forum: http://www.chinesemotorsport.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1624
I must point out that if you do this mod, you are doing it at your own risk. I am not guaranteeing that your wires will be the same colors as
mine. If you trace them correctly and have some moderate wiring/electrical skills you should be able to figure out which wires are for what, and use my posting as a guideline.
