Dang that looks pretty good. Crazy it took this long for chinese cruisers over 250cc to start making their way here. Looks like a parallel twin as well.

From what i was told they were working on EPA approval on a carburated 350cc twin but were having issues meeting the EPA criteria. Now they are working on EPA approval on the EFI 400cc which has a much better chance of getting approved.

Almost makes me wish I waited on the ghost. Could use more oomph from a motor like this. Surprised they're using a parallel twin instead of the rx4 motor that's already legal here.

Same here. I may have to sell the Ghost and get one.

Maybe they're using the parallel twin that's in CSC's RE3 SG400. It's 378cc and already legal here.

Reminds me of the old Virago 535.

That would be my guess as well.

That is a NICE looking bike. If that had a Yamaha or Honda badge on it, from a distance, I'd believe it. Looks great. Cool that they're bringing us bigger displacement.

Price point looks to be extremely competitive with a rebel 300 if this is the bike.

That's the bike. Only difference will be a different engine with EFI.

It’s very tempting to add it my cart and pay!

I don't think they will shipped that from Australia to the US.

Someone inquired about these a few weeks ago on another thread, from the BraapUSA site. That site is from the US, according to their name and contact phone# (303 area code) but I did not look into detail. Of course, they might not be available, and are in pre-order status, but the $4500 MSRP seems 'American' vs. Australian dollars. I think wheelbender should call the number and let us know what the deal is from them directly.

Ahh! I just noticed that it is a US dealer. Looks identical to the Austrian site.

Appears they're also selling a sport bike with the same engine for the same price. Not sure if any are available yet but it's great to see more online ordered bikes with more than 250cc.

I called them and spoke to a guy whose name I did not get. We talked about the bike(s) (he mentioned the sportbike) and explained that Braap is wanting to expand. I get the feeling that some (maybe a bunch) of their bikes will possibly end up here. He did say that Braap is an Australian company that manufactures in China, as opposed to a Chinese company sold via Braap; my guess is this might be somewhat true, and they will be part of the movement of having quality bikes available from China here in the US. He is supposed to email me information.

Edit--I forgot to mention; the guy I spoke with mentioned that supposedly 27 states are adopting CARB standards, meaning many bikes won't be '49-state' EPA/DOT certified. I am thinking there might be truth to that considering a few states are already giving a hard time to some 49-state EPA/DOT certified bikes, according to members here trying to register their bikes.

WOW...

NOW I'm sorry I bought the X22R... I should have saved up my money for this one... And it comes Backed by Lifetime Warranty??? I'm not even sure if Honda or ANY of the other makers would offer anything like this...

Very tempting...

Take care and ride safe...

Joe

:thanks:

It is up there in price compared to the X22. Now granted, Chinese bikes used to be generally $1500 for dual-sports and $2000 for street bikes (all in the '250cc' range), and the Dongfang street bikes have seen price increases thanks to companies like Venom, but your bike is a bit more than 1/2 the cost of the Braap, so you do have dollars in your pocket.

The Chinese are going full force with the American style motorcycles

A few that arrived last year to my country

"Bobber 350"

25288

350CC 2 cylinders, carb.

"Sidecar 400-9"

25289

400CC 2 Cyl EFI

"Custom V800"

25287

Just be aware they are not 1200 usd or 1500 usd... Still cheaper than any similar Honda, Yamaha, KTM, etc.
