Im looking into buying this bike and was curious about anyone else's experience with the dealer.

The ebay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Other-Makes-LIFAN-NEW-2007-LIFAN-SPORT-BIKE-200CC-STREET-LEGAL-NO-RESERV_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6719QQihZ002QQit emZ120255842870QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

They get you a real title and everything so it looks pretty legit, but I never know about these things.

On a side note, anyone with experience with this particular bike please feel free to share :)

I think the dealer is ok, but the paperwork for a few guys here caused them problems (it depends on which state/how much of an anal retentive state) with street registration. They did order dual sports, but the bikes were supposed to be 49-state DOT/EPA certified like this street bike. Just be cautious, and maybe research with you motor vehicle department before ordering. This dealer has been around a while, and will have some in a few weeks, so don't feel pressured to order, and then find out your state is giving you the runaround!

I see the shipping cost is $399, many places have bikes for the same price, but with free shipping.

From looking around the past week or so most bikes i've found with the same or similar specs and style sell for about the same. Bike plus shipping are always around $1450 or so depending on the model. This one would wind up in the same area since the auction will probably end at around $1000.

If i saw this bike for $1000 including shipping i'd be all over it, right now im going to end up driving about 5 hours to the seller's store and buy it in person to check it out before dropping the cash... and i guess an added bonus would saving about $300 of the $400(after paying for gas for the trip).

On a side note, if anyone knows a Lufan dealer closer to me (ashland Ky) let me know!

In person is the way to go, unless you found a killer deal online

You'd better give Rakatak a call before you drive down there, as his Ebay ad states "NO PICKUPS FROM OUR LOCATION! CALL US!!" in large red letters.

You're right! Maybe i would have noticed big blue letters

I planned on calling first anyways, but if he wouldnt allow pick up it'd just be a lost sale for him. The only reason I was looking at that particular version of the Lifan was to see it first hand and save some dough on shipping.

That's the same with alot of these guy's! My bet would be there location is there house and they never see any of these bikes.

Brian did have some of the older street bikes left at a good price. You may want to call him up.

Hi Gregg
Same back at ya! good to see ya.

number1snyder is one of Wildfires names. Every time he gets Kicked off of e~Bay he must get another Credit Card and register under a new name. He has been under investigation by The State of Ohio so many times and had sooo many different e~Bay names it would make one's head spin!!!!!!! 8O

.

I remember someone having trouble registering his Rakatak-purchased GY-5 a while ago (probably somewhere in the "registration issues" forum). This is probably why--the law says he can't do what he's doing!

So say someone bought one of the Lifan enduro's this guy has listed on ebay. Can one expect to receive service from a local Lifan dealer? Are these bikes from Rakatak "American Lifan" bikes? Should the parts I can get from the local dealer work with the bike from Rakatak? The bikes he has look fine, and for the price ($899) may be a good deal regardless of service after the sale. Thoughts / comments?

Not American Lifan...maybe now they will sell you parts (had a policy not to allow dealers to get parts, might be changing to allow this). $900 + shipping = about what you might pay to have Brian at MotoExtreme drop ship (real American Lifan), or add some and get one from your local dealer (after negotiations)

No... "Rakatak" Is Not an American Lifan Dealer. The bikes he sells Will Not be covered under The American Lifan Warranty.

Parts will not be available to the general public from American Lifan for any off-branded Lifan product until all of the companies are gone {not selling Lifan products} that are using American Lifan's EPA Certificates to sell bikes.
