Not Chinese, but not Japanese either.
You may remember that Korean bike maker Hyosung offered a V-twin 250cc sportbike and naked bike for a few years in the states. The engines were very powerful for a 250.
Hyosung will soon offer a new 300cc v-twin bobber/cruiser in the states. The tank looks a bit awkward, but the low price and lively engine should make up for it.

Looks like it will be a nice alternative to the Lifan cruiser and the SSR V-twin bikes as well.

Hyosung used to make the aquila 250 and Aquila 650. Same name, buy two very different looking bikes. Those same engines were also in their GT/GTR 250 and 650. Later, they moved to the GD250 anf stopped making the GT650.

Looks like they are trying to blend how the early Sportster tanks sat on top of the frame just in front of the seat, combined with the early, rounded Mustang chopper tanks.
Nice looking bike though. My old mailman had a Hyosung crotch rocket and he really loved it. He had zero issues with it. Isn't the motor like an old Suzuki design or something like that???? Can't quite remember.

I just got a GV650 that the previous owner violated with rattle cans, a sawzall, arc welder, truck exhaust parts and plastics broken from impatience.

I don't have any recent experience with anything but china bikes, but it seems well put together and rode decently, but I might have to rebuild the carbs. The engine seems like a clone of the engine Suzuki put in the SV650, and the carbs are even the same model number as on the SV650. Not really what I'd think of for a cruiser engine, but it's interesting to have a quick revving water cooled engine on such a bike.

Yeah, Hyosung used to build the SV650 engine for Suzuki. They changed just enough parts to keep from getting sued after their partnership with Suzuki ended. Back when i first wanted to start riding (circa 2005) I researched the hell out of the brand, because the GTR650 was the cheapest sport bike I could find and seemed to have decent quality. But, the closest dealer was in Atlanta Ga. (I was stationed in Norfolk Va at that time, but Ga was still my home state). The lack of dealerships was what kept me from pulling the trigger.

Odd enough, I think up until I started looking at bikes again in 2018, you could still find new in crate 2005 GTR 650s. They still wanted $5k for them. Too close to the price of the better RC390 I was looking at. That, and they later went to fuel injection and a full digital dash in about 2012, I think.

The Aquilas sold better, but I had no interest in cruisers. But, I would like an Aquila 650, because of how much it looks like a V-Rod. Having a korean V-Rod knockoff now would actually be pretty pleasing to me. Especially since I'd turbo it, because I'm stupid. :hehe:
