Thanks to Mrs. C's super sensitive nose, we avoided a house fire this morning.
We got a bit of snow this morning so I used the bottom feeder snowblower to clear the house driveway. Finished and came in the house. About a half hour later, she says she smells gasoline in the garage. I brushed it off at first because she can smell a gnat fart across the highway, then I got a whiff. I looked out in the garage and I saw drip drip drip from the snowmobile carb and a growing puddle of gas under the snowblower. Crap. Double crap because the house garage has a gas forced air furnace.
Garage door open. Snowblower outside. Furnace shut down. Box fan helping vent the fumes from the garage.
Must have gotten a piece of crap lodged between the needle and the seat well cuz the needle didn't move when I futzed with the float. Couldn't tell what it was because I dropped the needle on the garage floor and it took 10 minutes to find it.
It's back together and not leaking but I'm letting it sit outside for awhile. I have no desire to repeat what I did with my former neighbors a few years ago.
