I replaced the starter because it was barely turning the engine over. I had to hit the starter button several times ...click...click...click...then barely turns over.
I'm lost on this one...any suggestions??

Sounds like you need a new battery

Check on the connections and clean them. Then check the battery.

well, it's a new battery and I also put it on a 225A charger/starter resulting in no change...it just barely turns over after several tries...severe straining.

I would try squirting some WD-40 into the spark plug hole and see if it turns over any faster.
Any prior issues with the engine? Has it been run before on a regular basis without any problems?

Try starting it with spark plug out. Also, try bypassing the starter relay by jumping it straight to the starter.
