Went for our first boot on the 150s today. Fun to be back on a bike again. Everything seems to be okay. But twice I slowed down and the motor completely stopped. I'm thinking that it's the clutch causing a stall. Even though I've pulled it all the way in, it might still be slightly engaged as I slow down to stop.

Of course the owner's manual covers everything else...not clutch adjustment :?

Does anyone know how to correctly adjust a dirtbike clutch? Or has anyone got instructions in their manual? The info. is probably somewhat transferrable to the Hensims.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I usually adjust the clutch such that with the lever pullled all the way in the bike won't move with me standing next to it in first gear. The adjustment on my LF200GY-2 is on the top of the block, right side of the engine.

I figured this out. I'm going to look in some old Clymer manual next time I'm at the Library just to make sure. I just backed off the adjustment until there was a point where the clutch lever seemed to have things fully engaged (hard to describe). Then tightened it a bit from there. Then adjusted at the lever. Things don't seem as difficult to shift.

The initial clutch problem I had was that after the bike had warmed up I was unable to shift while stopped. Adjusting the cable rectified the problem.

The Diamo doesn't have an adjustment at the lever like most bikes. I could easily rectify that with an aftermarket clutch lever assembly, I guess, but the mirror screws into it. I do like having a cable adjustment up top, though. Mirrors aren't a problem with pure dirt bikes. I reckon I could find something that'd work on the Diamo in a salvage yard.

The Diamo doesn't have an adjustment at the lever like most bikes.

On the Lifan's (163FML engines anyway) the clutch adjustment is on the right side of the engine block, next to the head. There is no adjustment on the lever either.

I just wanted to add that having the idle set on the "upper end" of correct (i.e. a little bit fast) helps with shifting too, I found. A number of people have also mentioned that things just need to wear in too - I forget sometimes that these are below 25 miles bikes yet!

My manual says idle should be about 1500rpm's +- 50 rpm's. I have mine set at about 1750. A bit fast but I find it works better cold this way.
