Need a little help with timing chain. I have a Tao Tao hellcat that I needed to get a new head for. My previous head had a 28 tooth cam sprocket and this one comes with a 32 tooth sprocket. I used the 28t and can’t get my bike to run. I’m assuming it won’t run because it’s throwing off timing being a different size?

My question is this, does anybody know what size timing chain comes standard on the 154FMI engines? Will a 90 link timing chain be enough length to go around the 32 tooth cam sprocket?

I’m a newbie at working on engines so any help at all will be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

The cam sprocket needs to have exactly 2 times the number of teeth as the crank sprocket so you still need to use the 28 tooth.

If you have turned it over with the wrong cam sprocket ,you probably bent your valves
