View Full Version : Does the Diamo Velux no longer exist?

I really like the idea of the Diamo Velux with the roof and windshield wiper, but it seems like they have fallen off the face of the planet. Does anyone know anything more about these interesting scooters?

I know Tank makes a rip off of this scooter called the Tank Courier but every post I saw about it made it sounded like the quality was so terrible that it wasn't worth anyones time. I was thinking Diamo was supposed to be a better quality product, but their web presence is some of the worst I have seen, which is not indicative of a good quality China provider.

Anyone know whats up with this company? Did they run out of money?

I found some more options,

Here is Tanks, but I have heard nothing good about this company.

http://www.scootersus.com/tankcourier.html

Then there is Baron but I don't know anything about them. Are they a rebranded Tank?

http://www.scootersus.com/bosspredator.html

I'm not sure if their quality is worth $1,100.00 more dollars then Tanks version.

(EDIT = I mean, I am not sure if Baron's quality is worth $1,100.00 more dollars.)

Anyone know anything about Baron?

My local UM, Roketa, Diamo dealer (they really are, but they don't carry anything--it all has to be special ordered) has that scooter in stock, last time I went in there.

The nice thing about Diamo is they have a good warranty, and are so confident in their products, they have a roadside assistance plan with all their street bikes, unlimited miles for towing, etc.

This bike looks kinda cool, and I would tend to stay away from Tank.

How much were they charging for it?

Too bad I live in Mass. Why would you need a covered scooter in Arizona??? ;-)

I will second the Tank statement, and I own one of them, stay away from them...
I gotta admit that 3 wheel scooter looks kinda neat.

I was hoping for under 2K but if the quality is such that I don't have to fix the scooter every time I take it out, I might do more. Or if I can spend less and save myself money by going through the whole scoot with loctite and a bunch of new screws from the hardware, that would be fine too. Engine needs to be solid though. I don't want a burned out engine or stuck valves, etc.

your best bet and safest is to purchase a Kymco, they're costly but to me a company that backs up what they sell,
as soon as i get a GE floor for a shop they will let me in as a dealer

and they send there products without purchasing them , for dealers of course,

some other rules and stipulations, its not as easy as i am putting it ,

but at least they support and warrant thier products,
they're a taiwanese(?) company and well known all over europe

this scooter add $199 for shipping
http://www.desertdogpowersports.com/product_info.php?products_id=72

and as well this one add $199
http://www.desertdogpowersports.com/product_info.php?products_id=71

i am not tring to sell you my product ? just an idea on cost for you,
with the cost of fuel i'm sure shipping cost has changed

I would approach a Diamo product cautiously. First, they can afford to offer a good looking warranty because their price is very inflated - $4K for the Linhai 300 (they call it a Turista 300) that you can get around for as low as $2600. Second, there are rumors circulating of their demise. I can't verify this but have heard some rumblings. They are only an importer and buy scoots made by different Chinese companies.

Those prices are fine but I am only interested in a covered scooter like the Velux, I don't know if those prices are representative of the "covered" scooters?

Thats what I was worried about, if you look at their website they don't look like they are doing well at all. It's not all that much to pay to keep a web site up. Something seems very wrong there.

Companies like Diamo and UM are hit or miss. They start out with a lot of investor $$, have a price point way above others, and then slowly lose out to the bargain companies.

Diamo's site hasn't been updated in a while. They teased us with a Fischer 650, which I honestly though was going to be another rebadged Hyosung as it was pictured at about the same time as UM was releasing their rebadged Hysosung.

However, nothing new, other than going to Fischers site through a link from Diamo. Their GY model looks like the $1100 GY's we are all accustomed to--I am sure its a good bike, better than most, but it looks the same as it did 3 years ago! They used to claim that it was CARB certified even a couple of years ago!

Their roadside assistance program was a step in the right direction, but if the company goes down, figure no one is going to pick you and your bike up from the bottom of that cactus.... :?

Yeah, one step before the Hoveround!

Looks like you can ride that into stores and stuff--they should have an electric power option for this bike, and you would be king of the hoverround crowd! I would hang stuff from the rearview mirror.
