Been trying to put together a parts list for a lifan swap. Anyone have any experience doing this?

The Lifan 140 is a great little engine for low RPM grunt. I put one on my 1968 CT90 about 10 years ago and it has been great. I set mine up so it could be stored for long periods with minimal preparation so it has no battery and a non rusting plastic gas tank. It's still running fine and I may be able to answer your questions.

Doesn't the CT90 require an adaptor to mount the Chinese engines? I have heard that the Honda 90cc motors had a different mounting setup than the 50 and 70cc motors. Or modify the frame itself.

Also, where did you get a plastic CT90 tank? Are they the same tanks (or close enough) as the CT70 ones?

Most people use the adapter for the engine mounts ,the ones I have done I welded up the original frame holes ,then redrilled the frame in the proper place for the lower engine mounts .I have also made my own adapters in the past ,but don’t bother with that anymore .
The fuel tanks between ct70’s and a ct90 are not even close ,pretty sure Beatrice cycle has some new tanks available for the 90’s ,if not I probably have a half dozen good used ones here I might part with .

The Lifan engine mounts are indeed different. You can use an adapter or do a bit of grinding and drilling on the frame.

The gas tank is from an old Honda XR100R.

Yeah I thought the tanks were different. I am picking up a 69 and a 72 CT90 soon, so I might hit you up for a tank or two if mine turn out to be non-derustable. They may be fine, didn't really check when I went out there. Thanks.

How about a KLR650 tank on there! :D

I had both the original tank and the plastic tank on there for a while giving a 300+ mile range but I'm never going to ride that far in a day. I left the plastic tank on because it won't rust.
