I have to tear the whole back end of the Goldwing apart. UGH! I need to change out the U joint. It howls like crazy 60 mph and above and I can feel some vibrations in my feet. It is annoying to say the least. The wing is supposed to be nice and quiet. I have the beefier Valkyrie U joint to go in it and a new rubber boot as well. I have been dreading doing this for a while and have been putting it off. But I need to go ahead and get it done. I definitely don't want it to come apart and tear up a whole mess of stuff.

It's honestly not as bad as it looks to do. Maybe the 1500's are, but my 1000 was fairly easy.

:lol:Well I got her in a gazillion pieces. I had to get a 17mm allen socket today for the right side swing arm bolt. Hopefully I can have it buttoned back up soon. I'll assemble it and test ride it. If the howling and vibration is gone, I'll tear it back down and put new tires and brakes on her. If the sound persists it may be a bearing in the transmission. And if that's so, I'm not gonna go to that extreme to repair it. Here's to hoping its just the u joint.

Well I got her back together to a point I could take it down the road. AHHH YEAH!! Nice and smooth and most importantly QUIET :yay:! I'm gonna go ahead and replace all my brake pads and order a new set of tires. I may try the SHINKO's instead of the Dunlops. I am gonna try these Chinese brake pads I got. https://www.amazon.com/AHL-Semi-metallic-GL1500-Goldwing-1988-2000/dp/B01HI94P8I/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=36BPL60VFJG18&keywords=GL1500+brake+pads&qid=1686497087&sprefix=gl1500+brake+pads%2Caps%2C114&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&smid=A2052Q8QN6I6YM&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzVldNN1NFWVpTSE00J mVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjc1MjIyM0VRSUpDR0FaNk03RCZlbmN yeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNjU5Mzk2MlFBR1pQMkxZMU9FUyZ3aWRnZ XROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05 vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
Chinese brake pads on a wing?? HECK YEAH, why not the chinese brake pads on my KPX stop just fine. I also noticed my mufflers (original to the bike) were full of rust. I dumped alot of it out when I had them off. SO, I'm gonna try to install some Harley mufflers too.
