Love the concept of these, but haven't found a less expensive "knock-off" available in the usa yet:

I had a nice offroad helmet with the visor. the visor made the helmet look really cool. I cracked the visor and took it off. not sure what the function for it was in the first place. can someone tell me what its use was for?
I bought a modus street helmet. No visor, but the nice part is the sheild pops up as well as the whole front half of the face. makes it really nice to get a drink of water, scratch your face, pick your nose ect. without having to remove your whole helmet to get access to your face. I bought it a few years ago and it was less than 200 dollars.
unless I am doing some serious off roading and have a lot of debris flying at me, the street helmet is the only one that gets used.

I like version 2, more the moto look, might have to try it and see what shields would fit one, just want to make sure i get a decent seal for rain.

Having bought several Simpson helmets through my years of auto racing, I can tell you they are top notch quality. I would buy one in a heartbeat. That Simpson DS is killer!

the visor does serve a very good purpose. when your buddies are in front of you, trying to spin mud on you, which they will, you just tilt your head down, the visor will catch it all, so you eyes or goggles don't have too. IMHO a helmet really isn't the place to go cheap.

Those are cool...Look nice also.
I have been looking for a helmet and Simpson is my helmet of choice. I used a simpson helmet when I was racing 125cc shifter karts. Talk about a rush! YZ125cc on a gokart!
Here are some pics of my custom racing helmet.

Nice helmet jayg.
I owned one of the Simpson dual sport helmets a while back. I got it second
hand off Adv. Rider. It was a decent helmet, but the shield didn't seal real
well like the others. It had a rubber vent piece between the shield and chin
bar. It was good for the road, but very dusty on the trails. My face would get
pretty cold as well. I owned it last fall. Ended up selling it. Decided to stick
with my full face.
