Bike arrived from Venom. No shipping damage, assembled with no problems. I will need to shorten the kickstand. The muffler was rubbing on the tire, so I put in a spacer and cranked up the preload a bit more.

I drained the factory oil; it was a bit low anyhow.
Filled with Rotella 15/40

Rode it 20 miles, dropped oil, cleaned out the screen and filter, put in a paper filter. A little bit of glitter and what not in the big screen. Pretty standard.

Question:

What's next? Keep it out of the redline, vary speeds, ride it nicely, and drop the oil at 100 miles?
Then what? Other suggestions for miles and break in procedures?

I did my hawk at 100 miles and then again at 500. sounds like you have the right approach though. vary speeds/rpms, stay away from redline.

some people are in the "ride it like you stole it" camp. I didn't, but did run RPMs up sometimes.
