Question about pushrod engines

As I understand it the pushrod engines (at least the smaller ones) are based on a Honda CG125. But it seems that even the engines up to 200cc are also derivative.
First question: even if you can't see the top of the head, does that circle just above the crank case indicate that it's a pushrod type?

Second question: Is the bolt spacing the same on all the pushrod engines from 125 to 200cc ?
Thinking about the possibility of an upgrade....

To answer your first question : NO
second question : I really dont know I havnt had each of them here to compare.

Over Head Camshaft engines are easy to spot.
Look for the round or roundish cover near the top of the engine on the left side.

The pushrod engines we have just have one large cover on the top of the cylinder head that needs to be removed to adjust the valves.

As a rule the OHC engines will have a round or roundish cover on the top left side of the cylinder which allows the OverHeadCamshft to be accessed.

Thanks for the response.
I knew about checking the top end.
The trouble is that on a lot of the dual sport bikes, it's impossible to see the engine top from photos on the web.
So if you want to buy one off a web site, you'll have to ask the reseller.

Fat chance of getting an accurate answer.

yeah i hear what your saying but you really cant be sure by just looking at the lower side unless you have seen every engine out there. :lol:

Well.. I am pretty sure that the OHC engine DOES NOT have the little round thing you pointed out in your first question.. So if you can see a pic that has the lower half of the engine.. you may be able to tell.

Actually, the answer to his first question is "YES". That "circle above the crankcase" is the cam. Easily spottable, and a sure sign it is the pushrod version of out engines.
