Anyone had the joy of doing this yet? Met a rock that didn't like my shifter, shift shaft, or left case cover. PSM sent me replacement parts but this will be my first time opening the case covers so I'm not sure what to expect.

Oh crap! Bad luck. If the shifter shaft is really gone, you will be cracking open the engine to replace it. I don't think you can replace it otherwise. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure you need to pull the clutch and remove the shift shaft from that side.
Here is a service manual for the cg125, your engine probably isn't a 1:1 copy but it should point you in the right direction.

I've done the same thing. Laid it down and bashed the shifter on a rock. Any update as to the difficulty changing the shift shaft?

I tore into it tonight it was all done from the clutch side. It was pretty simple once I got the old 1 out it was broke and bent. I had to help it out. The new 1 slid right into place. Super simple.
