I have now been helmet shopping and see several from low to high cost.. Some in the 80 dollar range seem good and are popular on amazon.

on dadbod bikers KPX250 site they recommend this.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P2LSGYG/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A3E95LED4WJEDH&psc=1

in other place I see this as a good choice..

https://www.amazon.com/Typhoon-Motorcycle-Helmet-shield-Certified/dp/B08XZPBDKH/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

just wondering what other are using .. I will be doing more off road stuff with some on but want something for good protection without breaking the budget..

Yes i know a 700 dollar helmet is better than a 70 dollar help but I dont plan on going 100 miles hr on the road..

and spare me the "how much is your head worth" . Death is better than vegetable all day long. so says my wife.. LOL..

You may want to check out this site. They have some really good deals on helmets. https://motorcyclecloseouts.com/hot-deals/warehouse-sale/huge-helmet-blowout/
My friend encouraged me to get a helmet with MIPS for added safety. I ended up getting a deal on a fox v3, but there is a ton to choose from with the MIPS system

I have had a couple of those 1Storm double visor helmets with the inner tinted visor. It is a pretty sweet helmet. My son got one, but he is a little hard on equipment. He dropped it and the plastic clip holding the visor on shattered. I made it useful, and he can still use it, but just realize that it isn't unbreakable!

The price has ascended by 20 bucks since I got one.

For offroad, I like the fact that I can pop up the dark visor whenever it gets shady or after dark. It is a nice feature.

I got a large and it was loose. I got a medium and it is still slightly loose, but manageable. My hat size is 7-1/4

I have several helmets, but do most of my riding in a white, with a wild pattern,HJC fullface street helmet with a clear face shield. I bought an AFX fullface with a clear shield that was still in it's box ,at a yard sale,a couple years ago, and it came with extra inner cheek pads to fine tune the sizing. It was a really flashy American Flag helmet, and while I love America, I didn't want to be riding around on my Chinese bikes wearing it, so I painted it flat olive green. I like it just as much as the HJC , and have camera chin mounts and microphones in both, but the mic in the HJC is a little better . I have a Bilt dual sport helmet, and a HJC 3/4 , with full flip down shield that I occasionally wear. I have a cheap like Istrom ( or something), with a dark mirror face shield, and Ieared that I favor a clear shield. That helmet is also coming apart . The whole inner foam is trying to come out. Helmets are supposed to be replaced every few years, but I don't know anyone that does it.

Have a couple helmets, but since I was riding smaller bikes I was focusing on city-riding type of helmets. I bought the Icon Airform earlier this year ( https://youtu.be/PIP9OEhelI4 ) and still using it. Since then bought a bigger bike I spend more time on the highways, and one the fence about this helmet.

I'll give it awhile before I figure if I truly hate it or not, lots of wind noise, or just tolerate it. It's more for lower speeds since if moves a bit of air even for a full-face.

Certs are important to me, as I learned more of their meanings.

It was $119 when I bought it, so price only went up $10.

I have an HJC DS-X1 adv helmet, it's currently $180. If I was thinking about buying a cheap amazon helmet, I personally just wouldn't bother with any helmet. Not worth spending money on something that won't do it's job.

Funny how it’s uncool to buy a helmet from Amazon ,but it’s perfectly ok to purchase a bike from them ,or even far less accountable sellers .

It might be a modest "stretch", but it is reasonable to call our bikes knockoffs. And yet we buy them.

Regarding the helmet question, I avoid pavement except for neighborhood 25mph and connector 40-50mph four lane roads. I do occasionally hit the divided highway (65mph) for a mile or two. My helmet needs to work for me OFF-ROAD, and I ride at about 5mph most of the time. A lightweight plastic helmet is ideal.

When I had 1000cc plus 4 cylinder beasts, I wore an Arai full face most of the time, not that it would help if I were in an accident (which is why I avoid the highway now).

I am curious, and ask this respectfully: are you riding ANY bikes made in America? I know China blah blah blah. I don't like their politics, slave labor, or many other aspects. But since AMERICANS decided to offshore our manufacturing, it is rather difficult to buy anything FULLY manufactured in this country! Lots of components from all over.

And understand, I agree with your overall sentiment, but I guess I am adding this comment due to the circumstances of this present age.

For the record: if someone GAVE ME a Harley, I'd trade it in a moment for 2-3-4 or whatever the value of these well built China bikes!:lmao:

Hope I haven't 'stepped out of bounds' but I just got up & caffeine hasn't really kicked in yet ;)

Let me add this: for ANYONE who is riding on-road, I cannot overstate the value of this: https://www.brakefreetech.com/

These things are expensive, but as soon as I put one on my helmet, I could see cars keeping a LOT more distance. It acts as an elevated 'third brake light' but has inertial sensors in it. Even letting off the throttle will activate the light, and hitting the brakes (which gives a higher rate of deceleration) gives an even more intense signal. With the additional mounts you can move it between different helmets. The only thing I have noted is that the battery installed does not have great capacity. And while they SAY it is not replaceable, ANYONE who is on this forum is more than capable of disassembling the light when it becomes time, and installing a new/better cell.

I just bought one for my wife on our anniversary. We bought another Royal Enfield yesterday and I followed her home. The BrakeFree worked fantastic! It was very bright in Arizona sunlight (mid day) and appeared well before I ever saw her brake light.

I'm with you - in the range where buying a Walmart helmet seems like an insult, but where buying a $700 helmet on Revzilla is out of my price range - and almost half the cost of my Hawk.

Here's what I bought, on Amazon:

ILM Full Face Motorcycle Street Bike Helmet with Removable Winter Neck Scarf + 2 Visors DOT Model-JK313. Cost: about $75.00, and feels solid.
