Hey all, my garage started to stink then I noticed a puddle of fuel under my hawk. It was difficult to see where it was coming from but after removing the gas tank I see that the fuel is slowly seeping through the sending unit. The wire connection on the bottom is sealed with some type of orange rubber material that seems to be disintegrating.
I’ll attach some pics. I took a video too, not sure if that will attach.
I saw some other posts from hawk owners that used some type of welding epoxy to fix leaks at the outlet stop cock. Not sure if I should attempt to seal this bad boy back up, or just replace the sending unit.
Any advice would be welcome. I’m not a super experienced mechanic, but fairly handy. (Had to look up “sending unit” never heard that term before. :)

Tried to attach picture from iPhone. No luck.

My bike, Boom Vader, had a leak that developed around the sender unit and thought it was the gasket. Found some spot welds that failed. I tried using JB Weld, with no success so went with nuclear option, cut and weld.

In hindsight, if I didn't become frustrated with my original bad repair, I might have taken the tank down to a radiator shop and got the welds sealed with some solder. Hind sight is 20/20

Put one of these around the gasket to help it seal.

There is a product called “Seal all “,it will seal it up quick and dirty and it’s works with gasoline .Cheap at hardware and automotive stores .If down the line you wish to replace the sender you can just peal off the seal all and carry on .

Drain the tank, dry it out and jb weld over the place it's leaking. Usually works fairly well.

If you are sure it's leaking from the sending unit, then buying a new sending unit would be the best option by far. They're not expensive.

I changed the sending unit in my hawk for one from a TT250 as it is much more accurate (you can also just bend the float), and the stock gasket looked terrible.
